The presidential race has many people thinking about the bigger problems in life; changes in tuition and higher education, prison reform, and the environment. Who is going to best represent our great nation as the president of the good 'ole U.S. of A.? Will we have our first female president? Or will Trump reign triumphant over grassroots campaigner Bernie Sanders? These are the questions that most people are asking. I, on the other hand, am thinking about one thing.
If presidential candidates were characters on "The Office," (U.S. version, of course) who would they be?
Donald Trump = Robert California
Donald Trump's opinions are out there, just like Robert California's. Both are excellent businessmen and no one can understand how they got to the position that they did. California is only an addition in the later seasons, replacing Michael Scott, and no one was really happy about the change. Kind of sums up how many people feel about Trump. He's in the running somehow and we're not really sure how it happened...
Hillary Clinton = Pam Beesly/Halpert
So I'm fairly certain that if Hillary Clinton were on "The Office," she would be Pam Beesly/Halpert. Before you argue, hear me out. Both women are strong, intelligent women who know how to get things done. But at the same time, people tend to doubt their ability to lead and wonder if they are as capable as they seem. Maybe the world's just not ready for a woman to be Regional Manger...I mean President. Who knows?
Jeb Bush = Andy Bernard
Andy Bernard annoyed us all when he first joined the show. He was a rich boy from an Ivy League school who ended up in anger management. Somehow, over the next few seasons, he managed to win out hearts (and Erin's, too). This is strikingly similar to Jeb Bush. From the prestigious Bush family, Jeb has constantly been outshone by his brother George and father George Sr. who have both served as president (noticing some similarities yet?) He represents sort of an underdog, trying really hard to win people over to his conservative ideals. If he starts singing barbershop tunes with his old college glee club, though, it's all over.
Bernie Sanders = Oscar Martinez
Oscar Martinez is easily one of the smartest people in the office (the place, not the show). He represents order, logic, and is constantly at odds with his frustrating co-workers. This sounds familiar when comparing Bernie Sanders to his fellow presidential forerunners. Oscar cares about other people and represents the minority voice, often putting up with a lot of teasing from other people because of it. However, he can definitely be a bit annoying because of his know-it-all nature. While I don't think Sanders represents this aspect, I definitely see voters getting annoyed with Sanders supporters posting his values and achievements over every social media on the Internet.
Carly Fiorina = Angela Kinsey
I think it's obvious that Carly Fiorina would be represented as Angela Kinsey on The Office. Neither woman is afraid to state her opinion, despite the implications that they might have, and both have been torn down by male counterparts because of it. They have strange ideas and ways of doing things and somehow make their agendas known, even without specifically stating them out loud. They somehow seem to get their way without really getting their way and I don't know what that means for Fiorina in the presidential long run.
Lincoln Chafee = Toby Flenderson
Honesty time. Chafee has almost no supporters. In fact, you're probably wondering who he is right now and why I included him in this list. The reason is because of Toby Flenderson. No one really likes Toby (maybe some viewers do, I don't know). Beside that point, though, Toby typically has his heart in the right place and can never catch a break. He's got some good ideas, but he can never seem to really pull them off or convince people to be on his side.
Now I know what you're wondering. Who do I support as our 2016 president? Well, I have one simple answer to that...
