Yes, I have anxiety and yes, I live with it every day. I feel like there is a stigma around anxiety that I just need to learn to chill out, but anyone with anxiety knows that it is never that simple. Anxiety is just a part of me, and I could either sit around and feel sorry about myself, or I could learn how to cope with it and help to inform other people about the truth of what anxiety does in my mind. And if anxiety could talk, here are a few things my anxiety would be saying to me.
1. I know it's 3 a.m., but remember Global Warming? Yeah, let's talk about that.
2. Mom isn't returning your calls? Obviously the worst possible scenario is the only logical conclusion.
3. Big test today? Too bad everything you've ever learned is completely gone from your memory.
4. I know people are saying that you're being irrational, but I just thought of 15 more reasons why you should keep freaking out.
5. So I know that murder movie was complete fiction, but obviously that is going to happen to you tonight while you're sleeping.
6. Lets not only feel anxiety about life, but also lets feel anxiety about our possible anxiety attacks.
7. What?! The teacher said your presentation was just OKAY?! I hope you've been practicing your burger flipping skills.
8. Home alone on a Friday night: Wow you have no friends this is pathetic. Goes out Saturday night: TOO MANY PEOPLE LETS GO HOME AND HIDE UNDER OUR BED.
9. Feel that headache? Yeah, lets read about every illness that WebMD has ever documented.
10. Your friend just cancelled your plans for tonight? Obviously its because she hates you.
11. I know nothing actually happened, but I really think crying is the only logical option right now.
