This weekend I was skimming Pinterest and I came across a quote that read “No matter how many coins you toss into the fountain, or how many fingers you cross, if it’s not meant to be, it won’t happen.” This really stuck out to me and stayed in my mind. Every week I like to look for a new quote to write in my planner to start the week off on a positive note. I think that writing those things down is really important because we all know that our lives can get very hectic so when we take a minute to look through our planner, we can glance at the quote at the top of the page to help us come back to reality.
So many times I feel like we (myself included) try to rush everything and we continually want instant gratification. Slowly we have began to lose patience and we tend to lash out or break down because of our own selfish desires. It’s hard because just like the above quote says, we can toss as many coins as we want into the fountain or cross all of our fingers, but no matter what, if something is not meant to be, it’s not meant to be. I think there comes a time in our lives where we need to take a step back and realize that after trying for so long that maybe that one thing you really wanted to work out, isn’t meant to be. A lot of what we want to work out depends on God and what his desires for us are. If something is in His plans for our life, then it will surely happen but maybe not in the time or manner you desire.
Trusting that if something doesn’t happen, a new opportunity will come along is so important. The expression “When one door closes, another one opens” is one that I really like because a lot of times when that door closes, it creates that perfect new opportunity. Something that is difficult though is being able to keep the other door closed because it’s very tempting to go back to our old ways or habits.
Tieing everything together and going back to the original quote, never forget that no matter how hard you try, if something is not meant to be, it won’t happen. Don’t try to force anything and just go with the flow. When the timing is right, everything will fall into place and if there is never a good time, you will be given the strength to get over the obstacle that was holding you back.
