If I Had To Find The Perfect Friend, My Search Would End With You

We develop a standard for our relationships and some people just fit that standard better that others.

Find The Perfect Friend, My Search Would End With You

They say you become like the five people you spend the most time with, and I have yet to find a more accurate explanation for the ways that people grow and change during their first years of college. We choose our friends early on. We develop a standard for our relationships and some people just fit that standard better that others.

I expect a great deal from my friends.

I want friends who are deeply passionate. They bring light into our days and remind us how important it is to keep living fully with every second.

I want friends who crave adventure. They are the characters in the stories we will still tell when we are too old to dance and travel.

I want friends who makes me laugh uncontrollably in quiet, public places. They are the comedians that fill our hearts with positive energy and break through our darkest moments.

I want friends who will stay in my life even after they move to the farthest corners of the Earth. They are the proof that love knows no bounds.

I want friends who are childishly curious about the world. They are the students who ask questions that we didn't know we needed answers to.

I want friends who are steadfastly loyal. They are the soul mates who believe in us even when we ourselves do not.

I want friends who are strong enough to take grief from no one. They are the fighters who will help us to defeat our monsters.

I want friends who fight for what they value. They are the devoted ones who have stood up for something and will surely stand up for us.

I want friends who keep an open, nonjudgmental mind. They are the understanding ones who support us and build us up when we make mistakes instead of abandoning us when we are imperfect.

I want friends who dance when there's music. They are the ones with life in their veins who keep us on our toes.

I want friends who fall in love with obscure quotes and song lyrics. They are the emotional ones who struggle to find words strong enough for their feelings.

I want friends who are creative. They are the artists that see color in our world.

I want friends who dream impossible things. They are the thinkers who will change the world because no one was able to quiet their minds.

These are the standards that I set. They are my key to happiness and my map to all soul mates. They are my ticket to laughter and my pass to a life fully lived. To my friends who have brought light into my life, you know who you are, I am eternally grateful for your steadfast love and passionate hearts. I would wander, lost without you. I owe my personal growth to your unique wisdom and zest for life.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

For those long nights that turn into mornings when the struggle is real.

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.

winter

Thanksgiving break is over and Christmas is just around the corner and that means, for most college students, one hellish thing — finals week. It's the one time of year in which the library becomes over populated and mental breakdowns are most frequent. There is no way to avoid it or a cure for the pain that it brings. All we can do is hunker down with our books, order some Dominos, and pray that it will all be over soon. Luckily, we are not alone in this suffering. To prove it, here are just a few of the many deranged thoughts that go through a college student's mind during finals week.

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.
