If "Harry Potter" Characters Were Holidays

The most exciting parts of the year are all the miscellaneous holidays scattered throughout the months..but what if we had a "Harry Potter" character for each one? It would probably make them about nine and three quarters times better, right? Here are our favorite holidays embodied by our favorite HP characters!

1. New Year's Eve - Harry Potter

The holiday of fresh starts is none other than the famous Harry Potter. New Year's is all about the go-getters of the world. New Year's resolutions are set and everyone is trying to lose weight, save money, or defeat The Dark Lord ... right? Potter embodies the spirit of the new year with his can-do attitude which is why we start off the year on such a positive note.

2. Valentine's Day - Luna Lovegood

Who else could embody the month of love other than the sweetest character in the series? Even her last name has love in it! Luna is a great friend and understands that a little bit of kindness is all the world needs. She is the warmth needs after all the cold months winter had to offer.

3. St. Patrick's Day - Ron Weasley

Going to stereotype and go out on a limb and assume our redheaded character is Irish and therefore who better than to be our new Saint Patrick! Ironically, Ron isn't necessarily the luckiest person in the world considering he is always in the wrong place at the wrong time. With that being said, he still brings the fun feelings needed for every good St. Patty's Day festivities.

4. April Fool's Day - Fred and George Weasley

Only fitting that these two mischievous twins would be our April Fool's Day. After all, they do own a gag gift shop full of jokes and laughter. With their corny jokes and their Marauders Map these two are always up to something no good. They're never able to be serious and they're the true spirit of April Fool's.

5. Mother's Day - Professor McGonagall

Although she doesn't have any biological children, she is mother to all of the students who come through Hogwarts' doors. She is stern and will make sure punishments are handed out accordingly but she is also sweet and will stand up for her student's well-being. Her motherly instincts have shown through the entire series and she would be the perfect Hogwart's House Mom.

6. Father's Day - Dumbledore

Dumbledore is the perfect embodiment of Father's Day because he is caring, wise, and above all - knows everybody's business. He is pretty much Father Time when he lets Hermione time travel and he always keeps a watch on all of his students. His constant "I told you so" demeanor is the perfect fit of a father. He always wants his students to learn from their mistakes.

7. Independence Day - Dobby

Who better than to be our nation's holiday than the most free character in the whole book? Dobby, the free elf, is patriotic and has a firework personality. He knows freedom isn't free and that's why he is our perfect fit. With his unwavering love for Harry Potter, Dobby knows who to fight for.

8. Halloween - Professor Snape

Snape has shown us that even the most evil characters are sometimes just merely wearing masks. We changed our minds about Snape's intentions just about as many times as Ron said "Bloody Hell." He understands the excitement of being someone you're not and therefore he is the perfect scary holiday.

9. Thanksgiving - Hermione Granger

The holiday that is centered around family and being thankful for what you have is best embodied by Hermione. She sees importance in bringing everyone together and by being Muggle-born, she is thankful for every experience she has in the Wizarding World. She will be sure to scold Ron for stuffing his face during dinner though.

10. Christmas - Sirius Black

Someone so family orientated understands the true meaning of Christmas. He never had much, but he had just enough to be happy. With his close family and friends, Sirius was the happiest man throughout the series. The Wizarding World is exciting during the holidays because it really brings out the "magic of the season."

Blair Waldorf Quote
"DESTINY IS FOR LOSERS. IT'S JUST A STUPID EXCUSE TO WAIT FOR THINGS TO HAPPEN INSTEAD OF MAKING THEM HAPPEN." - BLAIR WALDORF.

The world stopped in 2012 when our beloved show "Gossip Girl" ended. For six straight years, we would all tune in every Monday at 9:00 p.m. to see Upper Eastside royalty in the form of a Burberry headband clad Blair Waldorf. Blair was the big sister that we all loved to hate. How could we ever forget the epic showdowns between her and her frenemy Serena Van Der Woodsen? Or the time she banished Georgina Sparks to a Christian summer camp? How about that time when she and her girls took down Bart Bass? Blair is life. She's taught us how to dress, how to be ambitious, and most importantly, how to throw the perfect shade.

too tired to care

We've all been there. From move-in day to the first finals week in college, your first term is an adventure from start to finish. In honor of college decisions coming out recently, I want to recap some of the most common experiences college freshmen experience.

1. The awkward hellos on move-in day.

You're moving your stuff onto your floor, and you will encounter people you don't know yet in the hallway. They live on your floor, so you'll awkwardly smile and maybe introduce yourself. As you walk away, you will wonder if they will ever speak to you again, but don't worry, there's a good chance that you will make some great friends on your floor!

Sophia Palmerine

Dear High School Friend Group,

My sweet angels, where would I be without you guys. We all grew up together because we either met in middle school or high school and watched each other grow up and get "old." We got to go to prom together and then graduate together. Then watched each other as we continued our lives in college, joining sororities and meeting people who will impact our lives forever. It all has happened so fast.
