It comes and goes, comes and goes, comes and goes. And now, it's coming.
I have multiple seasons in my life where I overexert myself with overwhelming stress. What's funny is that I do it to myself, or rather, the devil sneaks his burdensome self into my mind and tricks me into believing truths that are the complete opposite of that; lies.
College has not only brought more stress, confusion, and tears, but it's brought the devil full force into my life on a daily basis; almost feels like he's taken a passenger seat viewpoint in my life.
But that is one way that makes being human kind of sucky. Since we're human, the devil constantly tries to make himself noticed and in college, it feels like an every day trial.
When I'm going through those trials, like right now, I always come back to one particular verse.
Romans 8:38-39 says that "neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord."
What better way to ignore and knock out the devil's attempts at overwhelming us than to declare that nothing can pull us away from the Lord's love. Nothing can defeat Him and nothing can take Him away from us.
I always tell people what I heard in a sermon one day. The Lord is not the creator of evil but He can be in control of it. The devil has to go through the Lord when he wants to do something to God's children. And do you know what God says? He tells him to go ahead and take his best shot. He tells him that whatever the devil tries to do, He will make His child grow stronger than before and the devil will pay for what he does.
God doesn't give trials, hardships, and uncomfortable situations to people who cannot handle or grow from them. The Lord is always on the side of improvement. He always knows the right way. And He is always for us. No matter the moments of overwhelming, crushing, and paralyzing stress, sadness, and loneliness.
"And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose" -Romans 8:28
