If You Give A Girl A Bid Card

If you give a girl a bid card, she'll take a selfie with it first — she's been dreaming of this moment, she's so excited that it hurts.

Then she'll find the nearest girl with a bid card just like hers, and scream “let's take a picture!" the first of many with sisters.

She'll then call up her mother, her grandma and her friends, and before your very eyes, the transition will begin.

Her T-shirts will be bigger, her contact list will be growing longer, and thanks to the girls she's now bonded with, her self-confidence a little stronger.

You see when you give a girl a bid card, you aren't giving her "an in." You're giving her a support system, a new house full of friends.

Sure, we're not all perfect, and things won't always go as planned. But you can rest assured that with that bid card comes 200 helping hands.

Encouragement, laughter and love are always there, not to mention theme-party costumes from a sister willing to share.

She'll work hard to help make her chapter the best that it can be, she'll hold herself to higher standards- she knows the letters on her T-shirt are the first thing people see.

As her first year comes to a close, she'll reflect on all she's gained. She'll be grateful for the crazy memories and the nights still unexplained.

She found girls that make her laugh, and girls that have her back, she found girls that never judge her when she rolls in with a Taco Bell Party Pack.

These relationships aren't cheap; she knows they'll last for years. They've celebrated her victories and been there to dry her tears.

When they gave that girl a bid card, they had no doubt in their minds that she would bring something special, because she is one-of-a-kind.

And that next summer, a year after she received her very own, she'll be ecstatic to give another girl a key to her new home.

Singing is something I do all day, every day. It doesn't matter where I am or who's around. If I feel like singing, I'm going to. It's probably annoying sometimes, but I don't care -- I love to sing! If I'm not singing, I'm probably humming, sometimes without even realizing it. So as someone who loves to sing, these are some of the feelings and thoughts I have probably almost every day.
