I grew up in the age of Disney. Disney movies, clothes, and toys made up my childhood. For my final English project in high school, I created a board game designed like Disney World. At my high school graduation, my class president actually quoted "The Lion King." Everyone says it's time to give up on my love of Disney because it's too childish, but honestly I'm not ready. It only seems fitting that I use Disney movies to describe my first year of college.
Good morning!
The first day on campus can be scary.
Getting lost on campus as a freshman is something every college student has gone through. What do you mean this isn't my room?!
When the professor is super boring.
You sit there and try to concentrate, but, when he sounds like the adults from Peanuts, it's a force to keep your eyes open.
You know there's a campus event going on when you spot people walking around with pizza.
I mean, how else are they supposed to get us to go to "important university meetings"?
When the homesickness hits you.
Everyone I know was homesick at some point. Some for their parents, others for their friends, for me it was my dogs and boyfriend.
Thursday nights are party nights. (Also, Friday, Saturday, and ...Wednesday?)
When my lab partner told me he goes out on Wednesdays, I was a little flabbergasted. Can't we just stick to the normal party nights?
When it snows, but there's still class.
I would like to apologize for stopping traffic when I fell in the middle of an intersection. I learned my lesson. Boots > Sperry's in the snow.
Occasionally, studying goes awry.
You know what they say about all work and no play...
The first illness away from home can be difficult.
Good friends know to slip tissues and crackers under the door.
Reuniting with friends from home for the first time is beautiful.
Until you have to go back.
