If Characters on New Girl Were Virginia State Colleges

If you don't know what New Girl is, you are definitely missing out. New Girl is considered the Friends of this generation. Currently going strong on its sixth season, the dedicated following is impressive and I am a devoted member. I once cut my bangs hauntingly similar to the way Cece's are cut... let's just say that they work better on her!

In my opinion, if each of the main characters were Virginia state schools, I believe this is how it would look...

(Disclaimer: This is my personal opinion.)

1. Jessica Day - Virginia Commonwealth University

Jess is a firecracker full of life and has many different interests. VCU is known for its academic and cultural diversity and there is definite connection between Jess and those ideals.

2. Nick Miller - Old Dominion University

Nick is a total free spirit in that he doesn't restrict himself to one path. ODU is a school with people from all over and studying so many different things that they seem one and the same, but is also not as strict and doesn't have the stature that others may.

3. Schmidt - University of Virginia

Schmidt is borderline OCD, such a stickler, preppy as all hell, and also very revered in the eyes of his friends, similar to UVa. A school that is known for its pomp and circumstance with the public school system.

4. Cece Parikh - George Mason University

Cece is a gorgeous model who realizes she doesn't necessarily want what she has and tries to find a new road for her life. People that go to GMU are similar to Cece, you go in lost, and come out found!

5. Coach - James Madison University

Coach is obviously the most athletic and is a gym teacher and he just kind of reminds me of JMU being a combination of a party school and career school.

6. Winston Bishop - Virginia Tech

Winston finds his way into something he loves and follows that path. People who go to Tech are warm and know what they want.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

eye roll

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!

RBF, or resting b*tch face, is a serious condition that many people suffer from worldwide. Suffers are often bombarded with daily questions such as "Are you OK?" and "Why are you so mad?" If you have RBF, you've probably had numerous people tell you to "just smile!"

While this question trend can get annoying, there are a couple of pros to having RBF.

Yify

Another day, another Elle Woods comment. Can’t us blondes get through the day without someone harping at us over the typical stereotypes about who we are? I never understood why a person was judged based upon the hair color they were born with, or the hair color they choose to have (unless you dye your hair blue like Kylie Jenner, I’m still trying to understand why that’s a trend). Nevertheless, as it should be assumed, not everyone is the same. Not all blondes like bright colors and Lilly Pulitzer, and not all blondes claim to identify with Marilyn Monroe. I think the best suggestion to give to people before they make such radical claims is to stop judging a book by its cover. Or in this case, stop judging a blonde by her hair color.
