Music has a huge impact on the lives of most people. It is all around us, in movies and TV, on the radio, in restaurants, and in most other public places. Music has been shaped by each decade, and each decade has produced iconic songs that are instantly recognizable within the first bar of music. I am here to provide you with a list of the most iconic songs of the 2000's. Hopefully, you will rediscover some of these catchy tunes and have a little throwback jam session. Enjoy!

1.Mr. Brightside- The Killers

Mr. Brightside was released in 2004 and everybody still knows this song. Whether you are into this genre of music or not, I am positive you know all of the words to this song. It is definitely the most iconic song of the 2000's. When someone hears the words "coming out of my cage" being sung and the first note of the song being played, it is more than likely they are going to belt out the rest of the lyrics.

2. I Write Sins Not Tragedies- Panic! At The Disco

Panic! At The Disco actually happens to be one of my favorite bands, but even though it is a personal favorite of mine, this song was extremely popular in the 2000's. The music video is immediately recognizable just by seeing one image of it (take for example the picture I have used above). It came out 12 years ago in 2005, yet it is still their most popular song and a song that most people love.

3. Complicated- Avril Lavigne

This was released in 2002 and 15 years later, it is still being played on the radio. It is a song that no matter how sick of it you may be, you still end up singing all of the words every time you hear it. This song also put Avril Lavigne on the map and made her so popular in the early 2000's.

4. How to Save a Life- The Fray

In 2005, the popular medical drama Grey's Anatomy used this song in one of their episodes and it became almost an overnight sensation. Not only did it give The Fray their big break, but the song continued to be used in heart-wrenching moments of the show. It is still played on the radio quite often and no one seems to be sick of it.

5. A Thousand Miles- Vanessa Carlton

I would say that this is the most prominent song of my childhood. It was released in 2001 and automatically became my favorite song, even though I was young. People still ask for this song to be played at events or birthday parties. In the music video she plays a moving piano that travels with her to multiple locations, and it is easily one of the most memorable music videos of the decade.

6. She Will Be Loved- Maroon 5

To this day, this is one of my favorite songs. It was released in 2002 as a single from Maroon 5's album Songs About Jane, which contains quite a few more very popular songs. Even though Maroon 5 has put out numerous popular songs over the years, such as Makes Me Wonder and Moves Like Jagger, this is still the song that they are known for.

7. 1985- Bowling for Soup

I spent much of my time in 2004 in my playroom waiting for this song to be played on the radio. When reminiscing about songs from the past, this song is bound to be mentioned. Bowling for Soup was never very popular, but this song certainly was, and still is, and is definitely responsible for any popularity they had in the early 2000's.

8. Thnks fr th Mmrs- Fall Out Boy

Yes, the title of the song is spelled like that. This is arguably Fall Out Boy's most iconic song. The music video itself is one of the most iconic videos of the decade. It was released in 2007 and strangely featured Kim Kardashian in the music video. Most people did not expect her to be in a Fall Out Boy music video, but nevertheless, it instantaneously became an iconic song and video.

9. Irreplaceable- Beyonce

Since being in Destiny's Child and then going solo, Beyonce has had quite the successful career. When this was released in 2006, it was played on most radio stations almost on repeat. Even now in 2017 it seems like this song is constantly being played. I cannot hear the words "to the left" without immediately thinking of this song and hearing it in my head.

10. Hollaback Girl- Gwen Stefani

In elementary school in 2004, everyone would sing this song. In the hallways, bathrooms, playground, you name it. We all sang this song all the time. Everyone went around singing "it's bananas, B-A-N-A-N-A-S!" It was absolutely one of the catchiest songs of the decade.

All in all, the 2000's had some unforgettable tunes

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
