I Love Iced Coffee, Please Stop Shaming Me

Listen, I am just as normal as the next person but if I get another weird look at my iced coffee order, I will start screaming. It's not that uncommon for people to drink a customized version of the drink, so why give me that look? I am really not that different! Truly! Look me in the eye and tell me I cannot drink my favorite iced coffee. Yeah, that's what I thought Karen (apologies to all the non-judgmental Karen's, you're great!).

Iced coffee is a widely enjoyed drink that quenches the thirst of so many around the world. There are many variations of it like the cold brew, bottled cold coffee, or the nitro brew. As I have said and will say again, I am not that different! Shaming me will get you no where because there isn't anything you can say to make me stop drinking the deliciousness.

I live in Florida, and so being in America's armpit, it is very hot and humid almost year round. What's the perfect way to start your day and beat the heat? Well, iced coffee of course! Some like it hot and I like it cold, so when it is 92 degress outside and the humidity is 100%, come back to me and let me know what kind of iced coffee you would like.

Also, compared to hot coffee, iced coffee is affordable and I don't get a burnt mouth. However, in saying this I am not trying to call out hot coffee for being overpriced and potentially dangerous. No, no, I am simply just explaining the benefits one can reap when having iced coffee. Are you convinced to stop shaming me now?

I guess it must be done sometime. Shall I share my order with you? As I have definitely said before and will say again, my iced coffee order is simple and not different from many! Although, people are people and my differences are apparently too much, but I digress. My order is...a large iced coffee with 8 pumps of sugar syrup and cream. What is so crazy about that?! I get so many looks and hesitating words, "8 pumps? Um, alright, your total is..." Why is it so nuts to want my cold delicious coffee sweetened? You cannot believe how many people are taken aback when I tell them what I put in my iced coffee. Or when they look at the sticker order on my drink.

"Oh my gosh! That's so much sugar? How can you drink that? OMG!" I drink it willingly and happily! My coffee is yummy and never judges me on what I like to put in it. So, please take your comments away from me and use them on someone else.

I have found the perfect balance of cream to coffee to sweetener. It has taken me many a year to find that right balance, can you say the same for your coffee? As the saying goes, don't knock it til you try it, okay. So next time you want to give me a weird look for enjoying my lovely iced coffee, take a seat and take a sip.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
