Since day one, my mom has been my biggest motivator and loudest supporter. She never fails to protect me and stand up for me, doing whatever it is she knows I need from her.
Even though I've always been very close with my mom, I often look back on times where I wish I would have been nicer to her. Being away at college has made me realize how much she really does for me, and has also made me appreciate her even more.
Here are some things I wish I would have told my mom more often.
1. Thank you
This seems simple, but there are so many times I wish I would have thanked my mom. From driving me to school, to doing my laundry and cooking, she deserves a thank you for all the hard work she puts in to make my life better.
2. I'm sorry
I wish I would apologize to my mom more often for the times where I take my anger out on her or have a bad attitude towards her even though she did nothing to deserve it.
3. Do you need help?
My whole life, my mom has constantly been doing things to help me. She does laundry, cooks and cleans, walks the dog, and works. There are too many times where I find myself comfortable with letting her pull the whole load, and I know I should help her more.
4. I support you
My mom has always supported me in everything I do, and it's sometimes easy to overlook the fact that parents need support too. I wish I would be a bigger cheerleader for my mom sometimes, and encourage her the way she does with me.
5. I'm thankful for you
Not only am I thankful for all that my mom does, but I am thankful for who she is. She is bold and unique and unapologetically herself, and I'm so thankful to have such a cool mom.
6. I love you
Even though I tell my mom I love her pretty often, I really can never say it too much.
