For Christmas, I got a dip powder nail kit. I was super excited to try it out for the first time because I had started to pay more attention to my nails over quarantine. I had already grown them out and filed and shaped them, but the nail polish I had at home only lasted a few days before it chipped which was annoying. This dip powder kit has been a serious game changer for my nail routine.
The biggest thing that sticks out to me about the process was that each step dries so quickly. I'm an impatient person, and sitting around waiting 30 minutes for my nail polish to dry has just never been appealing to me. The longest dry time for the dip powder nails is 2 minutes which is much more suited to my level of patience.
I also love how strong the powder has made my nails. Before using the powder, sometimes my nails would bend or break but now the risk of that happening is close to none.
Finally, dip powder is surprisingly super easy to use. After practicing a couple of times I have cleaned up my application technique and successfully did dip powder nails on three of my family members with little to no issues.
There were a few downsides to this kit including the fact that you need an electric file to remove it. Also, I struggled initially with getting a completely smooth surface on the nail, but with practice this is no longer an issue for me. Overall, I think these downsides are far outweighed by the positives that dip powder brings to the table.
If you have the opportunity to get a dip powder kit, I would highly recommend purchasing one. Until we can all get back to life as usual, this could be exactly the solution you're searching for to get salon quality nails without leaving your house.
