Bumble is another popular dating app among the up and coming generations, and somewhere in my mind I thought it was a good idea to give it a test run of my own- maybe even find a special someone along the way.
With Bumble, ladies make the first move (they're the ones who send the first message, otherwise the connection expires after 24 hours). With all the power in a single swipe, I couldn't resist trying to find someone with similar interests and ideas with- maybe even take me on a date.
But lets get real- online dating is either hit or miss, and this time it was a miss. Here is a list of things I've found in my short time in the online dating world.
1. Hookups Galore
GiphyEveryone knows that apps like Tinder and Bumble can be notorious for searching for a quick hookup. Its practically the central hub of people looking for sex. If, that is what your looking for, its perfectly okay- but please don't send me unsolicited messages (or photots) to try and get me to come "hang out" in your bed with you. Especially if you hardly know me.
2. The "Ghoster"
GiphyI don't really have a reason for calling them the "ghosters" except for the fact that they'll send you one message- and thats all. Their icon will sit in your inbox and you'll wonder if they could've been Mr. Right- or maybe you won't.
3. High School Hotties
GiphyI feel terrible using the word "hotties", but if I'm being honest- its an accurate term. I joined bumble knowing that I was only five miles from where I went to high school, so I was bound to come across some kids in and above my graduating class. Lets just say some of them had a serious glo up.
The Good Guys
GiphyBelieve it or not, they're out there. They're scarce, but they are out there. Sometimes they aren't who you would expect them to be. Running into a genuine person when using an online dating app can be tricky, but there are stories that have that "happy ending"- where couples find each other and their relationship is strong.
A lot of what is on this list runs true for most dating apps. They're fun, and they create something to get excited and even gossip about, but in the long run I guess I'd hope to meet my Prince Charming face to face.
