Social Media seems to affect almost all of our lives in some way or another. And, to be honest, some may argue that it is for the good but I think that it has hindered the relationships that we have with others. One of the applications that have lead to this epidemic where children and teenagers spend hours on hours on their cell phones? Snapchat.
Snapchat. An application that about 200 million people use daily to send useless pictures back and forth to each other.
Remember when it was cool to text people instead of calling them? Now texting is not even cool anymore. It is snapchating.
1. It takes up a lot of time.
Snapchating back and forth pictures (which most of the time do not have a purpose) is very time consuming. This is time that I could be using to be productive in a different area of my life.
2. I can not really get to know a person.
How can you fit everything that you want to say in one snap. You can't.
3. I would check it constantly.
I would be obsessed with seeing if I had gotten a snap from *insert guy* so I would always check my phone or make sure that my notifications were on. I would constantly be distracted from what was in front of me.
4. I was not living in the moment.
When I was hanging out with friends I would want to take snaps with them so that other people would know that I have friends. But In reality, I should have spent this time developing the relationships with the people who I was surrounded with
You may disagree that you are not obsessed with snapchat or that it is actually beneficial for you. Challenge yourself anyways and try to go a week without using it. One week, that's all. You'll probably notice that your quality of life improves drastically when you remove your head from your phone for a second.
