I Love You

"For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many." -Mark 10:45

I Love You
Myself

Through the eyes of God: You are precious. You are desired. You are loved, though you continuously break My perfect law and stray from the path that I've laid before you (Romans 3:23). Even when you are faithless, I will be faithful (2 Timothy 2:11-13). I will seek you out and hurl your sins away from you, as far as the east is from the west (Psalm 103). I give you My peace, and I do not give it to you in the same cheap way that the world thrusts lies and its own expectations onto you. I give to you in a heavenly way (John 14:27)...without expecting anything back, since I know that you cannot repay Me (Ephesians 2:8-9).

You are never alone (Joshua 1:5). I will never leave you; I will never abandon you for any reason. I have given you a Helper to dwell within your mortal, fragile body until you are reunited with Me (John 14:16). I asked the Father to give you this Helper. He will lead you into all truth, since you are not capable of leading yourself. But do not enter into self-deprecation, for you are precious and honored in My sight, and I love you (Isaiah 43:4).

I will be your confidence (Proverbs 3:26). How do you feel, knowing that your own self-image was shaped by My lovingkindness towards you. I am your very strength, and your song (Psalm 118:14). I will bless my people with sleep (Psalm 127:1-2). Therefore, come to me when you need rest. Take the weight that I carry; trade it for your own. For my yoke is easy, and the burden that I carry is very light (Matthew 11:28-30). Let my gentleness make you great and lift you up (Psalm 18:35). Let your gentleness be apparent. Do not disrespect my gentleness towards you by refusing to be meek (Philippians 4:5). In this way, you will be a light for the unbeliever. If I, the God of the universe, refuses to harm you, shouldn't you do the same for others (Luke 6:31)?

With Me, you will soar on wings like eagles, you will run and not grow weary, you will walk and not be faint (Isaiah 40:31). When anxiety was great within My servant David, he cried out to me, and I relieved him of all of his fears (Psalm 94:19). But crying out to Me is not enough. Your life was designed to crave purpose through interaction with others. Serve them so that you can help Me gather My family to myself (Mark 10:45). Even when you feel you are not good enough, your heart is only deceiving you. I am greater than your heart, and I know everything (1 John 3:20).

Even when you are faithless, I am faithful. I cannot deny who I Am (2 Timothy 2:11-13). I will restore you to me, for I love and pursue you with all My heart and all My soul (Jeremiah 31:33). You are My bride, and My special possession. You will forget the shame of your youth when I gather you to Myself once more (Isaiah 54:4).

Do not be afraid (Joshua 1:9).

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate
Mental Floss

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."

It’s here; that time of year when college students turn into preschoolers again. We cry for our mothers, eat everything in sight, and whine when we don’t get our way. It’s finals, the dreaded time of the semester when we all realize we should have been paying attention in class instead of literally doing anything else but that. Everyone has to take them, and yes, unfortunately, they are inevitable. But just because they are here and inevitable does not mean they’re peaches and cream and full of rainbows.
