Every Day In New York City Is A Day Well Spent

Aside from the fact that I was born in Brooklyn, NYC has always been a place where I feel the most at home. Maybe its because it's where most of my family lives, but I also think this city has a way of making people feel like they belong. Its a city rich with culture, diverse people, and fun things to do.

This day, in particular, was extra special because I spent it with all of my favorite people. The day started in my apartment in Philly, alarm set for 8:30 a.m., and of course due to my excitement I woke up a solid 5 minutes before my alarm and jumped on the bed like a little kid to wake up my bestie, and then jumped on my sister to get her up ( she sleeps like a bear).

We spent the morning listening to music and getting ready, and if you know us girls, you know we can make anything a fun event!

Hopped in my car, drove to uptown Manhattan and met my cousin at her apartment. In classic New York fashion, parallel parking was the only option, so we spent a good 20 minutes looking for a spot and when I finally found one it was on the left and the tightest space you could possibly find. I was struggling to say the least and the guy parked behind me couldn't help but laugh.

Unlike the rep most New Yorkers have for being cold, he was super nice and parked my car for me! Us four girls got on the subway downtown to meet my other cousin and good friend, walked around time square, went shopping in forever 21 and then got a bite to eat. If you haven't heard of panda express, now you know! Highly recommend it and you should try the orange chicken and noodles because it was delicious!

After that, we decided to take the tram to Roosevelt Island. It's in between the city and queens and is the absolute cutest place ever. It's like its own little world outside of the city, and we spent the rest of our evening hanging out just taking in the sun and the view.

The best part was the sunset on the tram ride back, a truly beautiful and breathtaking view. So that was my day spent in NYC, and if you ever find yourself in the city, check some of those places out!

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!

There is nothing quite like family.

Family is kinda like that one ex that you always find yourself running back to (except without all the regret and the angsty breakup texts that come along with it).

No matter how long your class is, there's always time for the mind to wander. Much like taking a shower or trying to fall asleep, sitting in a classroom can be a time when you get some of your best ideas. But, more than likely, you're probably just trying to mentally cope with listening to a boring lecturer drone on and on. Perhaps some of the following Aristotle-esque thoughts have popped into your head during class.

Bob's Burgers
Adult Swim

Bob's Burgers is arguably one of the best and most well-written shows on tv today. That, and it's just plain hilarious. From Louise's crazy antics to Tina's deadpan self-confidence, whether they are planning ways to take over school or craft better burgers, the Belchers know how to have fun. They may not be anywhere close to organized or put together, but they do offer up some wise words once and awhile.

We're in college, none of us actually have anything together. In fact, not having anything together is one of our biggest stressors. However, there's a few little things that we do ever so often that actually make us feel like we have our lives together.

1. Making yourself dinner

And no this does not include ramen or Annie's Mac & Cheese. Making a decent meal for yourself is one of the most adult things you can do living on campus. And the food is much better than it would be at the dining hall.
