Things I Love About Being Home

Being home over winter break reminds me how much I miss being home.

Christmas break is finally here and I couldn't be happier. I get to hang out with my family and friends and love on my dogs for three weeks before I have to go back to school. Being home has me thinking about all of the reasons why I get homesick during the normal school weeks.

My family

I'm super close with my family and do so much with them, that being away from home was kind of a struggle. I missed hanging out with them and I missed forcing them to hang out with me.

My dogs

My dogs are like my best friends. They're always there for me, they love me no matter what, and they're always so excited to see me. I'm obsessed with my dogs and I can't believe I get to spend so much time with them.

My Own Space

I live in a dorm, so sharing such a small room can get a little uncomfortable sometimes. I love my roommate so much, but I'm a girl who likes her own space and I love being in my own room and being able to have alone time.

My friends

Oh my goodness how much I miss my friends so much. These gals that were there for me through high school are like my sisters and it is so hard to go from seeing them every day to almost never in such a short amount of time. I'm so thankful we get to see each other over the break.

My home town

The place that I wanted to leave so badly now has me thankful I get to spend so much time here before I go back to school. I missed the shops, the restaurants, the coffee shops, and the place I missed most: target.

While I love being in college and experiencing a new place and getting to know new people, I love being home and seeing my friends, family, dogs and all of my familiar surroundings. I know in about a week I'm going to miss my college friends and town but for now, I'm so grateful for the 3 weeks I get to spend time where I am.

The Battle Between College And My Mental Health

College isn't easy, and I'm afraid I'm not going to make it at the rate my mental health is going.

Everyone tells you that college is hard, but they fail to explain why. Sure, classes are hard. Math sucks, and political science can be so boring. But that's not even what's killing me about college. What's killing me about college is my deterioating mental health.

As a college student, I feel as if people don't understand just how exhausted I, and fellow college students are. We have so many things going on, all the time, and sometimes it's hard to explain to people how we feel. Personally...I'm tired. I'm sad. And I'm struggling every single day with my emotions. But the thing is, it hasn't always been this way. I haven't always hated school, so why am I feeling like this now?

For the average 20-something, life moves pretty fast. You’ve got classes, friends, relationships, jobs, family, and whatever else we overcommit ourselves with. I probably should have learned to say no to adding more to my schedule a long time ago, but instead here are 11 things that can be more helpful than coffee.

Resting b***h face. Defined as a person, usually a girl, who naturally looks mean when her face is expressionless, without meaning to. Many of you suffer from this "condition." You are commonly asked what's wrong, when nothing is. What people don't know is that is just your facial expression. Here are some things they wish you knew.
