When people ask me what kind of music do I listen to they are always shocked by the answer. There is no one specific type of music I listen to. I enjoy all genres of music from Country to Rock, Pop to Blues, and everything in Between.

Why might you ask? My mom and dad.

Growing up he and my mom exposed us to all types of music. They wanted us to have a love for the art. My mom has always been a fan of Pop and R&B, whereas my dad has been a fan of Reggae and Blues. My parents were not limited to the kind of music they listened to. They encouraged us to listen to all types of music.

My parents put an emphasis on the fact that there is not one type of music for a certain group of people, and then another type for another group of people.

They taught us that music is universal. That you can like whatever kind of music you want.

When people ask me what kind of music do I listen to, I tell them all kinds of music. The debate over music begins. I have had people tell me that it is not possible to listen to a little of everything. In a way I do. Now there are certain genres that I prefer over others, but I will listen to pretty much anything depending on my mood.

I tell people all the time that I am a really big Country music fan. That draws a weird reaction from people or a shocked look. I think it's because there is a certain genre of music people expect me to listen to. I do not fit into that genre of music. I also think it is because Country music has a bad reputation. Most people think of Country as the kind of music that is sad and depressing. They say that the songs are too slow and all Country artists sing about the same thing.

That may be true, but every genre has a certain mold that music of the artist in that particular genre fit into. If you take Rap and R&B, the artist in those genres all sing about the same thing as well. Everyone just assumes that Heavy Metal is nothing but noise and screaming. That may be true as well. There are people who enjoy that kind of music and should not be judged because of that. I almost hate having to answer that question because I do not want to deal with the backlash that comes with being a Country music fan.

I like Country music because it is the genre that I can relate to the most. Even as a kid growing up in Connecticut I've always loved Country. To me, it seemed like the most freeing music genre. The artist in Country music stay true to themselves and represent the fans very well. Now Country is not the only kind of music I listen to. I also love Pop and spend most of my day listening to artist like Bebe Rexha and Rita Ora, but it is hard to find a playlist on my Spotify that doesn't have Country music.

I have one playlist on my Spotify that doesn't have Country music and I named it "Not Country Jams". That may be the only playlist that does not contain Country music.

I listen to this playlist every day!

This playlist is the only one on my Spotify that does not contain Country music.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
