I Know A Cure For Everything

I know a cure to everything.

Have you ever heard the saying that water fixes everything? That's probably because it does. I don't mean chugging a gallon of water every day, although there are benefits to that, too. I'm talking about salt water. In one form or another, it can fix, or taking your mind off at least, whatever problem you're facing. Sweat, tears, or the sea: one of these can make any bad situation better.

Sweat equals endorphins and I'm sure you know the infamous line from Legally Blonde that endorphins make people happy and happy people don't shoot their husbands, right? Whatever your case may be, sweating it out definitely won't hurt. Head to the gym with a friend and talk about what keeps you up at night or go solo and dive into a run or a yoga class. Even if whatever is bothering you still gets at you afterward, you'll be glad you went and did something positive for yourself.

If nothing else, getting up and sweating is a great way to get your mind off of anything that may be bothering you. It's a great distractor from the stresses of school and relationships, and personally, I find it to be a bit of a self-confidence boost. Who doesn't like to feel good about themselves?

Tears. They have a negative connotation but I know I can't be the only one who knows how good getting them out can feel sometimes. There are those times when a good cry is as therapeutic as the best doctor you could see. To me, this is a way of acknowledging that I'm upset and everything isn't "fine."

That's a scary thought that we don't like to admit all the time, but ignoring it is even worse, so crying about it for a little is okay, but then you have to put your big girl pants on and deal with it. It really is okay to cry about it for a bit. I know Fergie says big girls don't cry, but big girls also don't ignore their problems, so if you need to get some tears out before confronting what you're facing, do that. I promise you'll feel a lot better for letting it all out.

The sea: my favorite kind of saltwater and my personal choice of the three "solutions to everything."

I'm not alone when I say getting away is a great coping mechanism for a bit. We can't handle it all and we shouldn't try to, so when it gets to be too much for me, the beach is a great place to run to. It's really hard to beat the feeling of sand between your toes and the sound of waves breaking as the hit the beach. They say salt water cures physical ailments and clears your skin, so who says it can't do the same when our hearts are hurting?

Grab some friends and get away to a paradise that's closer to home than you realize.

Yes, I really do have a cure to everything, and you can, too: salt water in one way or another.

"The cure for anything is salt water- sweat, tears, or the sea." -Karen Blixen

Edited by Hailey Hastings

I am fully emersed into diving deep into every single Taylor Swift album, which I do on my own all the time, but wanted to do it in a way where I am sharing what a special discography she has.
