I am from Alabama and my state is being hit hard lately due to various topics, but particularly some legislation in regards to abortion. I love politics and how the government works, but there are so many misconceptions and myths around these topics right now.
As a young person, it is abundantly clear to me that many people my age are not very involved in the world around them. Now I do not support this, but I understand that it is a fact and those individuals should not feel pressure to take an opinion on a topic that they are not educated on.
People feel like they have to take a side immediately on an issue and stick with it, but that is so far from true. It takes time to do research and develop an informed opinion about any topic, especially something as complex as abortion. It is unrealistic to think that people can have a “yes" or “no" for every issue that comes up in politics or on the news. HUMANS WERE NOT MEANT TO KNOW EVERYTHING ABOUT EVERYTHING!!
This stigma needs to be broken down and forgotten. There is no reason for people to be fearful of the fact that they do not feel comfortable voicing an opinion that they might not stand fully with. Even as a person who enjoys politics, I completely understand that I am not aware of everything and therefore can not form educated opinions about each topic.
Society has made it so hard for people to be comfortable in the fact that they do not know everything. The expectations are too high and are very unrealistic.
The conversations need to be had that encourage young people and those of all ages to get involved, but it should not force them to feel pressure to make up their minds in a rash matter on an important issue.
I chose the above photo for various reason, but mostly because of the clouds and the height at which the photo was taken. The clouds represent a clouded view of an issue whether from various other opinions or experiences by an individual. This photo was also taken at approximately 30,000 feet and everything on earth is so small when one is up that high, and it is nearly or completely impossible to see everything in all of its glory at that view, which is to prove that until one is up close to a topic they cannot fully grasp it.
