Morgan Harper-Nichols is a fantastic poet and artist. She recently posted a poem that she wrote based on a prompt where you answer the questions, then erase them once you're done, and you're left with the poem.
The Prompt
- Close your eyes and think of something in nature. What's the first thing that comes to mind?
- What color is it?
- How does this color make you feel in 1-2 words?
- Imagine this thing in nature is before you. Describe it in 2-3 words.
- How do you think this thing in nature would describe itself?
My Bare Poem
A snowy mountain
white
clean
challenging but humble
"You don't need to be scared
I may be mighty,
but I am modest."
The Final
A snowy mountain
can be shockingly
white,
offering a
clean and spotless
sentiment.
He is
challenging and humble.
In a husky voice
he assures me,
"You don't need to be scared
I may be mighty,
but I am modest.
Let me lead you
to the summit."
MHN has since deleted her poem, but the prompt can still be found on her instagram and her free downloadable artwork can be found on her website.
