I Did Meditation for Five Minutes | The Odyssey Online
Start writing a post

I have been very overwhelmed lately. In my time I try to accomplish as much as possible, though some days I really don't feel like it. In a world where everything is so fast paced, it gets scary as time passes on by and you are stuck there wondering how you can ever slow it down. Have you realized that when you are faced with so many tasks you can not buy enough time, but if you are forced to sit through a class, watch an advertizement, or anything else like that, you suddenly want time to move forward. In the end you realize, wait...I didn't have any time for myself, whether time moved fast or slow.

Just for kicks I found a meditation app, and found at least five minutes to do this. I sat down criss-cross applesauce on the floor, let the heat from the sun shining through the window hit my face, and I closed my eyes. I played the recording on the meditation app, and it was like a big sigh of relief. This was my time. All of thoughts that I constantly worry over were pushed aside. I wanted to cry at how eye-opening this was. I found time!

It gets exhausting always having to do something. Just five minutes of doing nothing, gave me some time back. It re-centered me and my thoughts without having me feel completely drained.

In class I found a woman who has the most soothing voice. I stated that she should read for audio books or meditation apps. Ironically she does meditate. I think meditation is highly underrated and I might give it another go. It's an adjustment, but I say that everyone should at least try it, as it is an easier way to release the negativity we build up inside. It pauses the stress. It makes us think afterwards. This period of self reflection and quiet is needed for everyone. Consider it like a small five minute get-away but for your brain.

18 Things I Want To Do Now That I'm 18

I'm technically an adult, so I'm legally required to live a little, right?

For the entirety of my high school career, I was always seen as the goody-two-shoes. I never got in trouble with a teacher, I kept stellar grades, and when I wasn't doing extracurricular activities, I was at home studying. Even when I did go out, it was usually with a bunch of fellow band geeks. The night would end before 11:00 PM and the only controversial activity would be a fight based on who unfairly won a round of Apples-to-Apples when someone else clearly had a better card (I promise I'm not still holding a grudge).

Now that I'm officially an adult, I want to pursue some new things. I want to experience life in a way that I never allowed myself to do prior to entering college. These are the years that I'm supposed to embark on a journey of self-discovery, so what better way to do that than to create a bucket list?

I've been super busy lately with school work, studying, etc. Besides the fact that I do nothing but AP chemistry and AP economics, I constantly think of stupid questions that are almost impossible to answer. So, maybe you could answer them for me, and if not then we can both wonder what the answers to these 15 questions could be.
