My Experience Catching Someone Stealing At Work

I used to work at a restaurant called Dad's BBQ. It was a fun little restaurant that a lot of people enjoyed! They had BBQ and ribs. I was a hostess and I also checked people out with the cash register. I had fun working there.

One day a group of kids around 19 or 20 came in and sat at a big booth. There was about 6 of them. We weren't that busy at the time so I was kinda watching them because I am a people watcher. Their table was close to the front of the restaurant so I could easily watch them.

I happen to look over and see that they ordered a TON of food. I mean ribs, bbq plates, the whole 9 yards. I talked to a coworker who was waitressing their table. She said that we needed to be cautious when we check them out because their bill was going to cost them around $100.

So they finish up their meal and they walk up to me. 4 of the 6 already left the building. This girl hands me her card and she's looking around mysteriously. I barely hold her card out because I'm watching the computer screen and she snatches her card back. Her card declined.

They literally ran outside of the door before I could yell at them to come back inside. Luckily I had amazing coworkers who knew exactly what to do in this situation. One of the coworkers chased after them. She said,"Hey get back here!" She chased them all the way to their car.

We were watching it go down from inside the restaurant. I was shaking with rage. How could they think they would get away with that? How did I let them get away with that?

The coworker made them come back inside and pay. The kids were so embarrassed and probably mad they didn't get away. I tried to muffle my laughs at the looks they were giving me. They all handed in their cards for me to swipe and they still owed about $80. I kept telling them they owed more money. My manager stepped in and threatened to call the police on them if they wouldn't pay. They were being very disrespectful so she called the police.

The police arrived and talked to the kids. They were sitting by the cash register and the police asked me what happened. I told him and the kids rolled their eyes at me. So I'm thinking, "Haha, I got y'all." So the police asked for their money and they didn't have any money left. All of their phones were dead so we had to lend them our phones and a couple of chargers so they could call their parents.

Eventually one of them got a hold of their mom. They got her credit card number so I punched that into the computer. Thankfully it was enough to pay for the rest of their expensive bill.

I am so thankful that my coworkers were so quick to act. I kind of just stood there shocked because they ran out of the restaurant so fast. It is sad that they didn't have the money, but they did act pretty stupid. I don't know what they were thinking, but we caught them red handed.

Cambio

Singing is something I do all day, every day. It doesn't matter where I am or who's around. If I feel like singing, I'm going to. It's probably annoying sometimes, but I don't care -- I love to sing! If I'm not singing, I'm probably humming, sometimes without even realizing it. So as someone who loves to sing, these are some of the feelings and thoughts I have probably almost every day.
