Earlier this week, the announcement was made that Kim Kardashian is studying to take the bar exam in 2022 after deciding to begin a four-year law apprenticeship to become a criminal justice lawyer.
As expected, there was some serious uproar on social media. Some have even turned it into an Internet meme to poke fun at her, such as the one pictured below.
Some people, such as Sunny Hostin, say that Kim Kardashian could never be successful in this business because she's not technically going to law school. However, California is one of the four states where you do not need a law degree in order to take the bar exam, and she is still gaining experience by completing the Law Office Study Program.
I'm sure she is not the only person who is attempting to complete such a program. The ideology that she will not become a successful lawyer due to this is a clear example of tearing down a woman because of her public identity. It is misogynistic beyond belief.
If it was a regular person on the street wanting to do this, would we be reacting in a similar fashion? Of course not.

This type of behavior online is despicable, especially given that so many people hate on the Kardashian/Jenner family for "having no talent" and not doing anything worthwhile as a contribution to society. And when one of them decides to do something with their platform, they still receive backlash and are the continuous brunt end of a joke.
It appears that nobody in this family, or any celebrity for that matter, can ever win when it comes to the scrutiny of the general public. If you don't do anything with your platform, then you're useless, and when you do, you're torn down for even trying.
It's sickening to think that the same people who preach advocacy and to lift women up are the same people who are tearing Kim Kardashian down. If anything it shows that embedded misogyny is surfacing and that people are judging this woman simply on the basis of sex and her public identity.
So many millionaires, especially those who have inherited their wealth, choose to do nothing with it. Yet Kim Kardashian is showing that she wants to use her wealth and platform to make a difference in the system and, better yet, she has the passion and grit to do so. We should be cheering her own, not booing from the sidelines.
I have yet to see a positive article about this news. Let's not forget that none of us truly know who Kim Kardashian is except Kim Kardashian herself. Who are we to decide if she can or cannot do something? If she believes in herself then that is all that truly matters.
She is using her resources to provide opportunities for those who do not have it and is showing every day to be an incredibly empowered woman. I really wish it isn't still seen as a newsflash to be perceived as beautiful, dynamic, and smart but apparently it still is.
If she believes in herself, then I do too. I suggest everyone does the same.
