Psychology is a common major you here among college students. It is one of the leading majors that freshman will declare coming into college. According to the "Princeton Review", psychology is number seven on their list of the top college majors students will graduate with.

Coming into college I heard a lot about "Don't major in psychology you will never get a job" or "Oh, what are you going to do with that?" Well, for your information, I will be majoring in psychology AND criminal justice with hope of going into forensic psychology and eventually clinical psychology. I would be eventually getting my doctorate. Starting wage you may ask? Approximately $80,000 per year. Yeah you heard that correctly. A clinical psychologist in a correctional facility STARTS at $80,000. Plus you work for the state, so that has amazing benefits as well.

It is a very intriguing topic. Who wouldn't want to study the human personality and activity? I personally have always been interested in the way a person ticks and why they do what they do. Studying psychology just isn't about the brain either and how it works. A lot of biology and sociology also comes along with the major. Knowing certain concepts about psychology, you might need to be able to understand basic biology or "why it is like that". Another huge topic in psychology is sociology. Social factors play a huge role in why a person is the way they are.

But no, I cannot read your mind. I will be able to read your body language and tone of voice and understand more about you than you may be saying. By the end of this semester, I will be able to tell what personality you have and how likely you are to do certain things.

I have a long road ahead of me. Going into a criminal justice workforce that is predominantly male ran, I will have to prove myself. As being inspired by my grandfather, who was a police officer for many years, I have the fire and spunk to be able to get this done and become amazing at my profession. Remember, psychology is a great topic to study if you find a specific career path you want to take.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
