9 Hygiene Tips To Brush Up On Before A Date

In This Article:

We have all had those nervous jitters before dates, especially with making sure you're looking as best as you can especially with first dates. We all have first impressions of someone we're getting to know, particularity when it comes to hygiene. Is their hair nicely brushed? Are they wearing cologne? We've all had these questions race through our mind while on a date. And if we are questioning, then our dates are about our hygiene!

Here are nine basic hygiene tips you should know before going on a date:

1. Brushing your teeth

This one may seem as one of the most obvious ones, but really make sure you brush good enough and long enough to keep those pearly whites white and that breath fresh. You don't want to be leaning in for that first kiss without minty breath.

2. Putting on deodorant

This one is a very important one. Not only do you want to put on some deodorant before your date, but you also want to occasionally check to see if you need to put any more on throughout the night.

3. Showering AND shampooing

Showering isn't really much of an option before going out, but people will question if shampooing your hair is, but it isn't. Hopping in the shower will get rid of all the dirt and grime that you've been sitting in all day which is key to nice, soft and great smelling skin but shampooing with that will also get all the oils out of your hair which will make your mane nice smelling and looking amazing.

4. Flossing

Floss for heaven's sake. I'm not trying to be a dentist here, but going the extra mile with flossing between your teeth really will make that difference. You can go ahead and show that smile with extra confidence.

5. Shaving/waxing

Main focus points here are legs, underarms, facial hair and the private area if you're going to go that route later in the night. If you're looking for the clean shaven look, go nice and slow to avoid any nicks or cuts.

6. Washing hands

ALWAYS wash your hands. After using the bathroom, before/after eating, coughing, sneezing... all that good stuff. And always use warm water and soap!

7. Wearing clean clothes

We've all been guilty from wearing those same leggings over and over again without washing them in between. But when it comes to a date, make sure your clothes are washed and smelling great. You never know if there's a secret stain somewhere...

8. Fragrance

The best time to spray yourself with your favorite perfume is when you get out of the shower. Make sure you don't end up overdoing it and smelling like a big flower shop.

9. Moisturizing

If you really want to add that extra glow to your skin... MOISTURIZE! Putting lotion on your body or adding moisturizer to your face will make your skin look extra good by making it softer and healthier.

Hopefully you knew all about these and just took some more consideration into them... good luck on that date!

Taylor Swift in orange dress playing a moss-covered piano on stage with bright lights.

A three-and-a-half-hour runtime. Nine Eras. Eleven outfit changes. Three surprise songs. Zero breaks. One unforgettable evening. In the past century, no other performer has put on an electric performance quite like Taylor Swift, surpassing her fans ‘wildest dreams’. It is the reason supporters keep coming back to her shows each year. Days later, I’m still in awe of the spectacle ‘Miss Americana’ puts on every few days in a new city. And, like one of Taylor’s exes, has me smiling as I reminisce about the memories of the night we spent together.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours.
