Considering I’m struggling to write a piece this week, I resorted to a well-written quote from Francis Bacon; “Write down the thoughts of the moment. Those that come the most unsought for are commonly the most valuable.”
Right now I’m finishing watching the Justin Timberlake 20/20 Tour Experience on Netflix for literally the millionth time.
I cannot say enough how amazing this show was and I didn’t even attend. God, I wish I did. There’s something about the art that Justin creates that I can’t help but basically crave it on a daily basis. I am completely accepting how cheesy this is. But, I think it’s true that in everyone’s life they come across an artist, band, or creator that has a way of pulling their emotional strings with all that they do. I am lucky in that I grew up with music in my life from the minute I was able to hear from my mom’s tummy. At an early age, music was doing things for me that some people can’t even fathom at a maturer age. I love this about myself, and it’s all thanks to my parents, but especially my dad. He stabilized my music taste using the flawless sounds of the 80s. My lullabies when Dad was putting me to sleep consisted of Rush’s greatest hits, or the soothing tracks of Def Leppard and Journey. Nowadays, he may be slightly upset to know I also listen to Drake and Fetty Wap, but I also listen to and love artists like Justin Timberlake and Bruno Mars. Both of these artists have a way of making you feel something when they perform. Justin dances puts lyrics together that make you motionless, while Bruno can get even the saddest person up and moving. Music makes you vulnerable if you let it. Music something that doesn’t judge anyone, in fact, it literally adapts to please everyone.
Justin Timberlake’s talent is nothing short of amazing. Which is why I watch it so many times. His performances make me want to dance and learn how to do that better, do new things, smile more, and most importantly, appreciate the people in your life that help get you to where you are. The most special moment of his whole show is the final song “Mirror.” He stands on stage fighting tears and bowing to the crowd because of how much they mean to him. I will forever be a fan of his because of who he is, and what he does.
Thank you dad, for always believing in me and for blessing me with my diverse musical taste and appreciate for the arts.
