If you were like me and didn't travel somewhere tropical and warm during your spring break, chances are you were probably at home watching an unhealthy amount of Netflix; more Netflix than you've typically watch throughout the semester. I wanted to make my spring break as stress-free as it could be, so that is what most of my days consisted of. One day, I decided to watch The Bee Movie. I remember wanting to see it when I was younger but didn't end up seeing it, and there it was right there on my Netflix list. Here was my chance. I've seen Bee Movie memes all over the internet late last year so I knew that it had to be good to just come back suddenly after nine years after its release. Here's my review for this film.
Well first I would like to start off with,
Why do the bees have cars?!
They are capable of flying anywhere they please! The main character, Barry, claims that flying everywhere can get tiring but still. You have wings for a reason, bees! Then again, was this a joke about humans having cars? Hmm.
Okay moving forward. I feel that Ken shouldn't have been made out to be such a jerk. Of course, he was going to hate Barry! One, he is deadly allergic to bees and two his ex-girlfriend, Vanessa, was more interested in talking to a bee than him. Talk about insulting! How else was he supposed to react?! And did we see his face when Vanessa said she was going to help Barry sue the human race?
That was literally my face too when she said that. Yes, Barry was upset to see humans selling the honey that bees worked hard to make and she wanted to help but at the same token she was helping to sue her own kind. Where is the logic?!
Also, I couldn't help but smirk when Adam was in a hospital bed.
I know he had just lost his stinger but of course he was going to survive! It was a bit dramatic. There's no way I couldn't have been the only one who didn't take this part seriously.
While watching "Bee Movie" I really had to pause and think about what I was watching. How was this a kids movie? There were so many jokes I would have not caught onto if I watched this when I was younger. Then, I tried to imagine if in real life a bee flew up to me and started talking. How would I react? Would I react like Vanessa did when she first met Barry? Maybe I would just ignore it all together. I honestly have no idea. I have been stung by a bee before so just holding a grudge here. Actually, I think I would freak out. This movie was weird to me at first but I was too intrigued to stop watching it. I needed to know where the storyline was headed. I'm glad I watched the whole movie because now it's one of my favorites. Who have I become?
