"I haven’t had a classic childhood. I don’t have a door with marks showing my growth over the years. My room isn’t painted some shade of pink I chose when I was seven. And I haven’t known my best friend my whole life. Through the course of my 18 years, I have lived in 5 different states, each place being completely different than the last.
From the west coast to the east coast, the 17th floor of a building to a house on four acres in the middle of nowhere. My Dad is a special agent in the FBI, causing my family and I to have to move around the country time and time again. But I would not change a thing. I may have spent my whole childhood moving around, but I have visited places that some people dream about. If I hadn’t lived in Virginia, would I have been able to feed my love of history by visiting the museums in D.C. on school field trips?
If I hadn’t moved to Vermont I never would have had the feeling of living in a small town. I have experienced many things that many 18-year-olds cannot say they have experienced. Living in California made me fall in love with the beach and surfing, and while living in Vermont I discovered my love of skiing. I believe that every place has so much to offer. Moving around so much has shown me that there is so much to see.
These moves have contributed to my life experiences. I took advantage of these moves, recognizing that each place resulted in new memories, lasting friendships and novel experiences. My childhood experiences have fueled my passion for learning and I couldn't be more excited for my new chapter here at Shippensburg"
