Besides my own mother, you are one of the most important ladies in my life, and I just wanted to tell you how much you mean to me, and thank you for all the things you’ve done for me over the years.
First and foremost, thank you for opening up your home to me. It started out as sleepovers with your child, and it grew into me driving over to your house when your kid isn’t even home, walking right in the door without knocking, and hanging out with you until they got there. Your house is my home away from home and always a place I feel comfortable in, and I couldn’t thank you enough for making me feel that way.
Secondly, thanks for driving me around when my mom couldn’t. I’m not saying it was my mom’s fault for not being able to take me places, but sometimes work got in the way and she wasn’t going to be able to get me to practice on time. That’s when your beautiful kind soul stepped in. You shoved me into your middle schooler loaded car and put up with our Bieber obsessed singing at the top of our lungs as we drove home from soccer practice. You’re number one for that.
Hugely, thanks for being there for me to talk to when I was too scared of my own mother (and for convincing me that she’s not as scary as I thought). Even though you would tell me how much of an idiot I was for doing something stupid (just like my mom would), it’s a lot less awful to get scolded by someone whose house you don’t have to sleep in that night.
This leads me into my next thank you. Thank you for always keeping my secrets when I ask you not to tell anyone (like my mom when I failed my science test). You’re the real MVP for that.
Thanks for helping me embarrass your child whenever possible. Whether it’s rolling down the windows and singing our hearts out while his/her crush is right beside us at the red light or simply tripping her in the food court of the mall, I’d say we make a pretty good team.
Finally, thank you so much for birthing that awesome child of yours! I know it’s hard to push out a kid with such a big hard head, but you’re a champ for doing it! No, seriously, your child is a blessing to my life and it’s because of them that I have such a fantastic woman like you to look after me as my own mom does! Thanks for everything you’ve done for me. I am ever so grateful for you and your love for me!
