If you've never seen an Adam Sandler movie, then you may not be familiar with his sense of humor or the way he uses most of the same stars in every movie. But if you are familiar, you've probably seen some of his best movies like 50 First Dates and the Grown Ups movies. His latest movie, Hubie Halloween, recently debuted on Netflix. I just finished watching it and truthfully, I expected it to be just a silly little movie. But...it was amazing (and I never watch movies).
I won't spoil anything, but this movie was hilarious and had an insane twist. I honestly did not expect what happened at the end from the beginning like most predictable movies. I found myself laughing at almost every joke, and if you have younger siblings or grandparents, there are jokes for everyone in this movie! One of the most hilarious parts about the story is that it takes place in Salem (yes, like the Salem Witch Trials) and constantly references historical events.
Not to mention the star-studded cast. I found myself smiling from ear to ear when I saw former Disney stars or the cast of SNL. Seeing the combination of these actors and actresses was amazing and they all worked so well together. My only critique is that I wished Bradley Steven Perry (from Good Luck Charlie) and Peyton List (from Jessie) had bigger roles. It was great to see young actors like Noah Schnapp and China Anne McClain credited, and their roles in the movie were hilarious. Like the jokes, this cast was recognizable for people of all ages. My parents kept pointing out stars from there generation too!
If you're looking for a feel-good movie, this is definitely the one for you to watch. My sister was almost in tears because of how happy she felt at the movie's conclusion. It also fuels the Halloween spirit and will really get you excited for spooky season. There were even some great costume ideas displayed if you still need inspiration! (And don't worry, if you prefer Christmas more like I do, just pretend like the Halloween decorations are Christmas decorations. If you think about it, this movie is actually vaguely similar to Elf)
So if you're looking for a movie to watch this October, or even on Halloween night, turn on Hubie's Halloween. Grab some candy and some friends. You won't be disappointed!
And be prepared, the Cameron Boyce tribute after the movie ended will make you cry. Rest in Peace, Cameron ❤️
