Howdy, Texas A&M Odyssey!

The Odyssey is flipping local news upside down with a new approach that combines the power of locally developed content and national reach. By capturing real conversations here in College Station, it seeks to impact conversations locally, nationally and around the globe. How cool is that?!

With the new development of Kyle Field stadium, and record enrollment year, 2014 has brought monumental changes in the history of Texas A&M. My vision is for The Odyssey is to be a source you can read about how these changes are affecting us as students, as well as other news circulating the community. Our staff are students just like you, we promise not to write about topics that don't interest you.

From tips how to shop in a small town, to college cooking tips, advice, insight to Greek life and stories that will entertain and uplift, The Odyssey will both inform and entertain. Our content is relevant to you- the leaders, frat snapping, Texas flag clothed, food junkies, monogrammed, oversized t-shirt wearing, philanthropic members of Greek life.

Each week, expect to see a new article with topics that you actually want to read. We desire to bring you fascinating articles that highlight the student body, give insights to Greek life, go behind the scenes in sports, provide helpful tips and articles that purely entertain. Once you've read an article you love, make sure to share it on Facebook, Twitter, and even email it to your mom if you're feeling it. Our goal is to gain a large enough audience to move our magazine into a weekly print edition.

We're joining something huge that has already been a part of over 60 campuses across the nation. We want you, our audience, to be the heartbeat behind our writing. If you have a news worthy story, contact any of the writers on staff to share whats happening here in Aggieland.

If you are interested in joining this awesome team, please apply at theodysseyonline.com/apply

Let's make this a great year Aggies!

Sorority
Rebekah Lee

I remember my freshman year oh so well. I remember feeling terrified the night before orientation. The one thing that I dreaded the most was not the new people, the new environment, or even the academic pressure. I was dreading having to talk to sorority girls about Recruitment. I remember cutting off and avoiding any Rho Gamma/Panhellenic Officer that came my way during First Week. I looked at them like they had asked me to cut my arm off whenever they asked me if I wanted to rush. To be honest, I did not even know what rush was, but I knew that I did NOT want to be a part of it. To me, it was dumb. It was a waste of money. It was a waste of my time.

And guess what? I did not rush my freshman year. I spent the first half of my freshman year isolating myself from everyone on campus. I spent all of my time in the library, and then (since I was a commuter) went back home once my work was finished.

Tiana would no doubt be disappointed in the food our cafeteria has to offer.

And hopefully she would cook for everyone in her dorm.

She definitley would not take any 8:00 am classes because she would be up late baking and cleaning up the communal kitchen that are available in every dorm.
