We all have those people..those people that we have in our lives that we cannot imagine going a day without. For me, this would be my English Major Fam at OVU. They're literally 8 other amazing, wonderful, perfect even though some qualify as borderline alcoholic and/or abusive individuals. If you've met us or had the off chance of having an English class with the rest of us, you know just how crazy we English Majors can be, but they are people that I hope I will forever have in my life, even if we end up thousands of miles apart and our amazing group chat is the only way we ever communicate after graduation.

That all being said, here's a few ways that you know you've found your people.

1. You have a group chat.

Most people, especially millennials seem to have at least one group chat blowing up continuously. Other people will look at your phone on the occasion and respond with an immediate "dannnnnng." I know right? It is a "dang," but it's the greatest dang of your life.

2. You make fun of each other on the daily.

I feel like this one doesn't really need much of an explanation, but if you ever "Pull An Alicia," it means you clearly don't know how to read a syllabus and that assignment you're freaking out about that you "forgot" to do really probably isn't due until the next class period or even month..Yes, Gavin. I will learn how to read a syllabus this semester so I can stop the department wide freak outs.

3. You constantly are trying to better each other.

As cheesy as this may sound, your friends really should be in your life to better it if they're there for the right reasons.

4. You have ridiculous insiders with each other.

I feel like this implies most to Emily and me, but I can say without a shadow of a doubt if I look at Haley or Dorian and say "Gentle woman" whiling pretending to pull a sword out, they will both know exactly what I'm talking about. Speaking of which, we really need to get that script on the move. I will personally sponsor it to become a movie. No joke.

5. At the end of the day, even if you "hate" each other, you know you truly love each other unconditionally.

This also doesn't really need much explanation, but it truly is part of every true friend group.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."

It's the most wonderful time of the year! Christmas is one of my personal favorite holidays because of the Christmas traditions my family upholds generation after generation. It’s here; that time of year when college students turn into preschoolers again. We cry for our mothers, eat everything in sight, and whine when we don’t get our way. It’s finals, the dreaded time of the semester when we all realize we should have been paying attention in class instead of literally doing anything else but that. Everyone has to take them, and yes, unfortunately, they are inevitable. But just because they are here and inevitable does not mean they’re peaches and cream and full of rainbows. Surviving them is a must, and the following five phases are a reality for all majors from business to art, nursing to history.
