How You Know You're Done With The Semester

You're so close to the end, but so unmotivated.

Spring is finally here! Unfortunately for most college students, the nice weather and sunshine cannot hide the fact that finals are just around the corner. The past few months have been a roller coaster, and you're quickly losing any motivation that you have left. Don't worry, you are not in this alone. Here are some instances that college students experience toward the end of a semester.

No motivation to work out, or even move, for that matter.

You probably started the semester off bright-eyed and bushy-tailed. You were going to balance your schoolwork, social life, job, internship, and get in killer shape. You were going to run this semester, not let it run you. Then, 12 weeks in, leaving your bed becomes the real challenge.

Any reason is a good reason for a nap.

Did you make it to your morning class, or any class? Take a nap. Did you go to the grocery store? Take a nap. Did you do anything remotely productive? Take a nap.

Junk food becomes your main source of nutrients.

Grocery shopping and cooking tend to take the back burner toward the end of the semester. Scrounging around the bottom of a Cheez-It box for any crumbs is the main way you get food.

Coffee isn't cutting it anymore.

A few cups of coffee a day quickly turns into a whole pot of coffee. Then you have an energy drink to hold you over. Then you realize you're still actually really tired, but you now you just have heart palpitations on top exhaustion.

Proofreading any assignments is no longer a thing.

You do not have the time, or will, for reading the same paper over and over again. You have three group projects due, and let's be honest, proofreading is just the worst.

You have to call your mom once a week so that you don’t have a full-blown breakdown.

Sure, you're a young adult who is trying to be responsible and handle all of the things college is throwing at you. However, you still have to call your mom, or anyone willing to listen to you freak out, so they can talk you out of a stress-induced mental breakdown.

"C’s get degrees" is repeating in your head.

At this point, your hopes of getting all 'A's have nearly diminished entirely. All you want to do is graduate and sleep.

You look for any reason not to study.

Nope. Can't do it anymore. All of a sudden, you feel the urge to clean your whole apartment and cook a four course meal. You will do literally anything to avoid studying.

Nothing you read sticks in your memory.

Your eyes are looking at words, but your brain is just not having any of it.

You try to enjoy yourself, but feel strangely guilty.

At the beginning of the semester, you never missed a party and were a real bar star. Now, whenever you have a good time, you can't help but think about your looming tests and assignments. You want to have fun, but know you should probably be studying or doing something more productive.

The end of a semester is rough. You're mentally and physically exhausted, and your motivation is at an all-time low. There is a bright side, however. Just think about how close you are to being done with studying and writing and group projects, at least for a few months. Stay strong! We're all in this together.

Creating your schedule for the upcoming semester can be an exciting process. You have the control to decide if you want to have class two-days a week or five-days a week. You get to check things off of your requirement checklist. It's an opportunity for a fresh start with new classes (which you tell yourself you'll never skip.) This process, which always starts out so optimistic, can get frustrating really quickly. Here are 25 thoughts you have when registering for classes.

10 Thoughts Of A 5th Year Senior

What about those of us who don't do it all in four years?

"College will be the best four years of your life" is a phrase that we have all heard growing up. College is painted as a magical place to us while we are in high school. A place you go to learn, meet your best friends and probably have the time of your life while all of this is going down. Four whirlwind years, where everything that you've known changes and you start to learn what it means to live on your own, have a job, etc. But what about those of us who don't do this all in four years? Major changes, hard courses, switching schools, career paths changing, these are just a handful of factors that could extend your four years to five, six or seven. There is nothing wrong with taking extra time to graduate, but returning as a fifth-year is a little different. Most of your best friends have most likely graduated and moved and while you may be one of the oldest undergraduates on campus, you might feel as awkward as a freshmen. A world that became home and comfortable to you is still there but it's slightly different than you've known it to be and you have to find a groove to fall into. These are thoughts you'll have as you look ahead to returning to your college campus, with a victory lap planned.

11 Times Aubrey Plaza Described Sophomore Year

"I don't want to do things. I want to do not things."

Aubrey Plaza is one of my favorite humans in Hollywood. She's honest, blunt, unapologetic, and hilarious. I just started my sophomore year of college, and found that some of her best moments can accurately describe the start of the school year.

1. When your advisor tells you that you should declare a major soon.

2. Seeing the lost and confused freshmen and remembering that was you a short year ago, and now being grateful you know the ins and outs of the campus.

3. Going to the involvement fair to sign up for more clubs knowing that you are already too involved.

4. When you actually do the reading required for the first class.

5. Seeing your friends for the first time since last semester.

6. When you're already drowning in homework during syllabus week.

7. Realizing you don't have the same excitement for classes as you did as a freshman.

8. Going home and seeing people from high school gets weirder the older you get.
