If there's anything that my friends and family knows about me, it’s my love for Wendy Williams. Wendy Williams is a former radio host and a talk show host. Her show, The Wendy Williams Show, is famous for talking about celebrities and lifestyle ideas. She's also an author, fashion designer, comedian, Broadway star, and created her own charity. Wendy is 53 years old and is married to Kevin Hunter. The two of them have a 17 year old son named Kevin Hunter Junior. Her family runs a charity to send children to summer camp. I have been a huge fan of her work for a long time. When I heard I had the chance to meet her, I took it!
I was asked to join The National Society of Leadership and Success. It’s a society for college students to improve their leadership skills and offer many opportunities. NSLS offers their members custom recommendation letters, scholarships, awards, and leadership training. One requirement to join is to attend 3 speaker broadcast. A famous leader speaks at colleges about how they became a leader. Through NSLS, I was able to see Wendy Williams speak. I am trying to get the National Engagement Leader Award through NSLS. The NELA award is given to members who complete the double amount of requirements and 6 volunteer hours. Because I am trying to get the NELA award, I asked to volunteer for the Wendy Williams speaker broadcast.
While volunteering at the Wendy Williams speaker broadcast, our Montclair State University advisor reserved 6 seats in the front row for all 6 of us volunteers. I was so excited to be near Wendy Williams. Her speech was incredible. She talked about Harvey Weinstein and how girls should not be victims of sexual assault. Wendy also talked about how she made sure to stand out when interning. Wendy also explained how people need to be their own boss in order to improve themselves. Lastly, Wendy shared how she had to find her own jobs and worked from the bottom to the very top in her field.
The best part of the broadcast was when the audience got to ask questions. I was the first one to be picked. As soon as I stood up, Wendy told me that I looked like I was wearing pajamas. While some may be offended, I took what she said as a compliment. I told Wendy that I didn’t have a question, and instead, thanked her for bringing me such joy. I told her that the world is a dark place and when I watch her show, I forget the pain. She spoke about how her show isn’t political for people like me. Her show is about bring joy to other people. Wendy finally left but before walking out, she stopped to hug me. Wendy told me that she wishes me luck with everything and walked out.

I may not have been inducted into NSLS yet, but I can already say that they brought me such joy and amazing opportunities. Thank you very much Wendy Williams and The National Society of Leadership and Success!
