How To Write An Odyssey Article In 20 Minutes
The Odyssey Online

Writing an Odyssey article is even easier than it seems. Just follow my instructions and you’ll get five shares, per minute you spend writing the article.

First of all, you have to choose a topic that relates to everyone’s lives somehow and that doesn’t require much effort to process. It should be like a snack, instead of a full course dinner. Food, family or school always work and a combination of those, even better. For example; “8 Meals You Can Easily Prepare With Your Family Before Leaving For College.”

People read and enjoy daily, simple ideas. No one cares about what is going on in the news; that is their problem, I can’t relate to that. Also don’t waste your time by writing deep, thought provoking articles because ain’t nobody got time to think! Everyone is too busy with binge-watching their favorite show on Netflix or spying on their favorite celebrity on social media.

While writing, be sure to press enter after every three sentences. This gives the reader the illusion that she or he has read a lot and it is finally getting closer to the end. Instead of writing long paragraphs, write many short paragraphs to give the reader time to rest their brain after every three sentences.

Be sure to use many images and GIFs in between your paragraphs. People prefer viewing to reading. It is just easier and more fun because who doesn’t like GIFs. Put a relating image or a GIF after every paragraph to give the reader a break to process all that information. Plus, all these images will make your article seem longer as if you have put much effort into writing it. (p.s. don’t underestimate the task of choosing a GIF, it is actually harder than writing the article -- so many options).

Keep your article as concise as possible. An average person’s attention span is eight seconds in the 21st century -- shorter than a goldfish’s. After eight seconds, the reader will start to think of what has changed on his Facebook newsfeed. Therefore, do not write longer than 500 words, your article won’t be read. (Okay, I still have 163 words left.)

Remember, shares are the most important things. Always think of quantity over quality. Following these steps you can write an article in 20 minutes. Even if you don’t have an opinion worthy of sharing every single week, it isn’t important because I am sure someone out there will share whatever you write.

Don’t write what you think is important; write what others think is important because no one cares about your opinion. No one cares if you have spent your whole day reading countless articles and thinking hard to present a new perspective in order to articulate an intelligent article. As long as you write every week, what and how you write is not important. I assure you that there is always someone who will buy it.

And finally, don’t forget to share your article on every social media you have to make your ideas reach as many people as possible (because more shares mean more adverts).

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.
