The Rainbow Through My Eyes

How would you describe the rainbow?

The Rainbow Through My Eyes

We don't realize who different how difficult it would to describe colors or sounds to someone who can not experience them for them self. Things that we may take for granted in our everyday lives, are often times the hardest to explain. I was inspired to write this, awhile ago when I thought of how I would describe the color red to someone who could not see it. I went through the rest of the rainbow, coming up with different ways to describe each of the colors we see every day.

Red is the feeling of passion. It could be associated with anger or love, however, this intense of a color is for an equally intense emotion. It is the jealousy and anger you feel, yet it is also love and excitement. It is the way your lips are stained from a cherry Popsicle on a hot summer day. it is what is coursing through your very veins, it is the color that is keeping you alive.

Orange can be bright and burn your eyes like the sun. orange is laughter. It is the sun at dusk or dawn, the beginning of ending to a day. It is a chance for a new chapter. Orange is citrus, served in a glass with some pancakes in the morning. It is fire in its purest form. it is the heat of a summer day or a campfire. It is what gives us strength.

Yellow is what I picture to be associated with happiness. When people smile, their soul seems to radiate off this color. Yellow is the sand in your toes at the beach, on a summer’s day. It is bright and bold and unapologetic for what it brings.

Green is jealousy, as pure as it comes. It is the wave of nausea you feel, right before you throw up your last meal. Green is also nature, it ( if you want to be technical) is the color needed to sustain life. From outer space, it is the color of the masses of land. Green is the grass between your toes, and the leaves swinging in the breeze. Green breathes life into our world, green is pure.

Blue is deep and rich or it can be soft and angelic. It is the most prominent color seen on our floating orb from space. It is the tears that fall and it is the sadness you feel. People don’t say, “ you look a little blue, today” for nothing. Blue is also freedom. It is the color of our sky and on a clear day it seems to stretch on forever. Blue, the color of my own walls in my bedroom, is known as the most calming color. Blue is rich in meaning.

Purple is brilliant. It is the combination of red and blue, Taking passion and purity and mixing them to create a powerful potion. Purple is meaningful, it is royal. Its shades are used to stain the softest of flower petals. It is a rare beauty to spy during a sunrise or sunset. However, when it does shine through it is picture perfect. Purple is power.

18 Things I Want To Do Now That I'm 18

I'm technically an adult, so I'm legally required to live a little, right?

For the entirety of my high school career, I was always seen as the goody-two-shoes. I never got in trouble with a teacher, I kept stellar grades, and when I wasn't doing extracurricular activities, I was at home studying. Even when I did go out, it was usually with a bunch of fellow band geeks. The night would end before 11:00 PM and the only controversial activity would be a fight based on who unfairly won a round of Apples-to-Apples when someone else clearly had a better card (I promise I'm not still holding a grudge).

Now that I'm officially an adult, I want to pursue some new things. I want to experience life in a way that I never allowed myself to do prior to entering college. These are the years that I'm supposed to embark on a journey of self-discovery, so what better way to do that than to create a bucket list?
