How We Should Approach Trump's Presidency

For some people, last Friday was a wonderful day. For others, it was an eery day that included a sense of fear. Unlike any other, this election has divided our country. There was no clear front runner in terms of candidates, and many people were not crazy about the candidate that they voted for. This has lead to a lot of bickering. Arguments between friends, protests and riots on the streets, and social media fights continue to plague our society. Regardless of who our President is, these quarrels are completely unnecessary. They separate our country instead of bringing us together, which is not what we need in times of trouble and uncertainty.

It is important to not let our differences in political opinion come between our interpersonal relationships. Unfortunately, I have seen many generalizations on social media about supporters of both parties. I think it is important for us not to make these generalizations. These generalizations are unfair to the supporters of these parties. Obviously, every Republican doesn’t disregard Climate Change, and every Democrat doesn’t want socialism. However, memes and posts are posted constantly on social media every day, suggesting these very generalizations. These statements simply push us apart, which as Americans, is not what we are about. And frankly, they’re just plain blasphemous, especially considering very few people were thrilled about the either candidate in this election. It is very unlikely that supporters of each party agree with their entire platform; therefore, it is unfair to assume that they support some random and dramatized issue. With the uncertain future of our country, it is imperative that we stick together, as Americans, through thick and thin.

Secondly, it is idiotic to wish for bad things to happen for Trump during his Presidency. Wishing for him to fail is wishing for our country to fail and why would you wish for our country to fail? I didn’t vote for Trump, because I had absolutely no confidence in him. However, I hope he proves me wrong. I hope he does a fantastic job over the next four years, because that will mean that our country will also be doing well. The protesters that broke into stores after the Inauguration must not see it this way. However, they are wrong. Violence will not solve anything. This will not get us a different president. All it does is hurt our country, just like wishing failure upon Trump does. I will not shoot myself in the foot by wishing failure upon Trump. However, I will continue to stand up for what I believe in just like the millions of women did on Saturday. They held marches and peaceful protests, sending a lot stronger message than hate or violence.

Finally, I just believe that during this time of uncertainty, it is imperative that we stay strong as a country. We must respect each other's differences and support our current government, for better or for worse. Also, we must hope for a successful term for our President, despite our feelings towards him. That is the only way that we can make progress, regardless of circumstance.

In honor of Mother’s Day, I have been thinking of all the things my mom does for my family and me. Although I couldn’t write nearly all of them, here are a few things that moms do for us.

They find that shirt that’s right in front of you, but just you can’t seem to find.

10 Reasons To Thank Your Best Friend

Take the time to thank that one friend in your life you will never let go of.

Thank You on wooden blocks

1. Thank you for being the one I can always count on to be honest.

A true friend will tell you if the shirt is ugly, or at least ask to borrow it and "accidentally" burn it.

2. Thank you for accepting me for who I am.

A best friend will love you regardless of the stale french fries you left on the floor of your car, or when you had lice in 8th grade and no one wanted to talk to you.

Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!
