Mason jars are a sorority girl's best friend. We receive them on bid day, in big/little baskets, we drink out of them for every date party and they make very good flower vases. I don't know about you, but I feel I have a hundred mason jars all over my room. Being in a sorority basically puts you in the category of being creative, so why not use that skill with re-inventing the use of mason jars?
Whenever I go on Pinterest or look at artsy pictures on Tumblr, I see mason jars used in very creative ways. Do I ever use them in cool ways? No, until now.
Detox Water
Just recently, I have been using about an eight ounce mason jar to drink water out of. It fits perfectly at my bedside table and is clear so I can add a polka dotted paper straw to add a little bit of color. Not only is the clear jar perfect for regular water, but also for detox water.
Why not add fresh strawberries and lemon, or mint and raspberries, or cucumber and grapefruit to spice up your daily drink? Whatever your favorite fruits are, add them in the mason jar and you have yourself a fast pass to your next snapchat story! One of my favorite bloggers, The Skinny Confidential, has a recipe for detox water, and she even uses a mason jar to drink out of.
Chia Seed Pudding
Sounds gross but tastes oh so good. Chia seeds are among the new "trendy foods." They are high in Omega-3s, protein and can even help fight belly fat. On that note, soak them in liquid and add some chocolate overnight for a delicious and healthy breakfast treat.
My new favorite flavors together are chocolate and coconut and thankfully work perfectly in a chia seed pudding. Virtually, you can add any liquid and flavoring that will be soaked up into the seeds and have about the same texture as oatmeal.
Layered Salads
Why bring or buy a boring salad for lunch when you can make yourself a layered salad with all of your favorite ingredients? For all of you with a 9 to 5 job or internship, you know that the same old lunch can get pretty boring day after day. A new way to spice up lunchtime is with a salad in a mason jar. Be creative in your layering so no day is ever the same!
