Temple University changed my life for the better for many reasons and I could not be more grateful for the opportunities this institution has given me in such a short amount of time.

This time last year, in my sophomore Spring semester as a Pre-Med major at another university, I was lost. I had no idea where my life was headed and I was not happy with where it was at the time. I finally built up the courage to admit that to myself and my family and was able to start the transfer admissions process. I applied to one school, Temple University (Ambler Campus), as a marketing major and was admitted over the summer. To say I was thrilled would be an understatement.

I was given the opportunity for a new beginning with a major that I was so passionate about and I couldn’t wait to start. Fast forward to this past Fall 2017 semester where I began commuting to Temple University Ambler Campus with a brand new schedule, two jobs under my belt, and a thirst for new opportunities.

I applied to be apart of Student Government when they needed a president, and I was more than willing to take on the lead roll within my first month of school. This position continues to give me so many opportunities as well as connections with new students, alumni, faculty, staff, and the Temple community. I am so grateful and proud of myself for taking a leap of faith and believing in myself enough to take on the role of Student Government President.

I have met so many amazing people while attending Temple University and if I’ve learned anything, I’ve learned that everyone here has just as much passion about this school and its students as the other. The professors are always willing to help you, the staff members are always kind and willing to cater to your needs and any questions you may have, the student workers (myself included) are always so friendly and inviting, and most importantly, the students are unique, passionate, and overall the foundation of what makes Temple University the most incredible institution around.

Getting involved with clubs, events, and various organizations within the campus community is something I highly suggest. It has and continues to bring me amazing opportunities, lifelong friends, incredible experiences, and most importantly, happiness.

I have never felt like I belong somewhere more than I do at Temple U. Whether it’s taking a trip down to Main to see friends, attend meetings, or get a cup of Saxby's coffee, or going to a football game at the Linc (Go Owls), a basketball game at the Liacouras Center, or watching a performance from the various clubs on campus, Temple has it all.

I am so lucky to be where I am now in my life and it is all thanks to Temple University. I believe that everything happens for a reason, and getting accepted and attending Temple is absolutely what/where I am meant to be in my life.

Thank you to everyone who has helped me along the way and continues to support me on my journey through college because I could not have done it without you. “Owl” always be so grateful and understanding of why past events in my life has brought me to where I am today. Most importantly, thank you Temple University for giving me the new beginning I never knew I needed. Here’s to the future that I am finally excited to be apart of.

Oh, and obviously, Go Owls!!! (*cue "We Are Family"*)

10 Truths About Being In A Sorority

Sorority
Rebekah Lee

I remember my freshman year oh so well. I remember feeling terrified the night before orientation. The one thing that I dreaded the most was not the new people, the new environment, or even the academic pressure. I was dreading having to talk to sorority girls about Recruitment. I remember cutting off and avoiding any Rho Gamma/Panhellenic Officer that came my way during First Week. I looked at them like they had asked me to cut my arm off whenever they asked me if I wanted to rush. To be honest, I did not even know what rush was, but I knew that I did NOT want to be a part of it. To me, it was dumb. It was a waste of money. It was a waste of my time.

And guess what? I did not rush my freshman year. I spent the first half of my freshman year isolating myself from everyone on campus. I spent all of my time in the library, and then (since I was a commuter) went back home once my work was finished.

Tiana would no doubt be disappointed in the food our cafeteria has to offer.

And hopefully she would cook for everyone in her dorm.

She definitley would not take any 8:00 am classes because she would be up late baking and cleaning up the communal kitchen that are available in every dorm.
