As the buzz from Christmas and New Years Eve winds down, we settle into a dull state of wandering. No great holidays to look forward to (because who really celebrates the big V-day) and no breaks off from school or work. Oh the horror of the New Year. But let's not forget about the wonders that come with this time. We are still in winter and if you live in a place where cold weather is a real thing, then you are still celebrating sweater weather along with me. If you don't know how to keep yourself warm and cozy without being loungy and lazy, here are some helpful tidbits of information.
1. You can NEVER have too many layers.
Whether its two layers or four, if it's tasteful it works. Keep yourself warm no matter what it takes.
2. Tights are not pants, and leggings are not tights.
Leggings are thick and tights are see through.. can't you tell the difference?
3. Beanie up!
Slouched beanies, knit beanies or a beret. I say hooray!
4. Turtlenecks are not just for 90's Christmas movies
5. Big Cardigans are a must.
It's a way to look cute without really trying. This size XL cardigan doubles as a late wake up call cover up and a well put together ensemble.
6.Infinity Scarves are everything.
If you are in need of a scarf, go for the infinity. Especially the big knits one that pretty much swallow up your head. If you're having an ugly day it can be used as a mask to hide from your peers.
7. No pain, no gain
Honestly the biggest thing I tell myself is suck.it.up. If i have a skirt or t shirt I want to wear but the weather begs to differ, I say oh well and wear it. After all, beauty is pain.
8. Mom jeans can be worn by more than just your mom.
9. Sweat it out
If all else fails and your mind and closet are telling you "Not today", then stick with some sweats. They are your safest and comfiest bet.
Through all this, always wear what you feel best in! Whether it's dressed up or dressed down you are the best version of yourself and no one can tell you otherwise. We all are unique individuals that can make choices for ourselves. So look inside yourself and your closet and start searching!
