Winter makes our skin dry and dull. Some tweaking is required in our winter skincare routine to make sure skin stays soft and moisturized. We often take great care of our face, but neglect the skin of our feet. But it is just as important to take care of your tiny tootsies to make them feel and look soft, healthy, and moisturized - especially in winter.

Take a look at some of the skincare routines that are essential to taking care of feet during winter. Though our feet remain covered with socks or shoes for the most part of the season, winter skin dryness is still a very real danger.

Here are some simple things you can do for your feet this winter.

1. Get a hot water pedicure.

A hot water pedicure is required with a mild scrub to remove all the dead skin from feet. Dead skin is actually the most annoying problem for feet in winters as the skin gets dry, and the best thing to avoid that is mild foot scrubbing after soaking up the feet in hot water for about 15 to 20 minutes.

2. Foot masks.

Foot masks are important to make your feet feel soft and moisturized for long. They help to remove the impurities and also keep them away from the skin for long. They form a protective layer on foot making them soft, moisturized and safe from impurities.

3. Hydrate your body.

Hydration is extremely important not only for maintaining good health but also for maintaining good skin. It helps in keeping the skin soft, supple, and prevents dryness. Hydration also helps in delaying the aging of the skin by keeping wrinkles and age signs at bay.

4. Foot exercises.

A thing that creates a long-lasting effect on the health of tootsies is exercise. It regulates the blood circulation, helps them stay warm and healthy. Either go for walking or do some simple exercises at home such as twisting and bending of tootsies.

Exercise will help to make your feet fit and limber and it can be easily done by doing simple gentle stretches daily.

5. Moisturize and moisturize again.

Dry foot skin can quickly turn into rough and painful cracks making it hard to walk. It’s important to restore the natural oils of the skin by applying a good quality foot cream or petroleum jelly.

6. Wear the right shoes.

If you are overlooking the factor of wearing the right shoes for maintaining the health of your feet, stop doing that right now. Shoes are like the instrument for feet to keep them comfortable, healthy and happy. And if you are using the wrong instrument, it can produce a bad impact on your feet for sure.

So always use the shoe with a good fit, that neither should be too tight or nor too loose, it should be perfectly fitted, with the appropriately cushioned footbed.

Also make sure to choose the right shoes as per the activity you are going to do, such as comfortable running shoes for running, sneakers for walking and so on. Maybe you can’t notice the small alterations in these activity shoes, but it put a great impact on the health of feet in the long run.

And, most importantly, always choose a good footwear brand as they keep the comfort level and health of feet of users on top priority. OTBT Shoes is one of the best footwear brands that takes care of both the things in a good way and OTBT Stardust is one of my favorite shoes as it is the most comfortable.

7. Add more nutrients to your diet.

As the weather changes, the requirements of our body also start changing accordingly, then it requires more nutrients to stay warm and nourished. Winter is a time to add nuts and dry fruits in the diet as they are a good source of iron, Magnesium, vitamins A, B, and C, omega-3 fatty acid, etc.

As the metabolism of the body improves in winters, it makes dry fruits are easily digestible and provide enough warmth to the body. They are also helpful in improving the texture of skin.

8. Use natural moisturizing agents.

Natural moisturizing agents are gentle, improve the texture of skin and give a long-lasting moisturizing effect. So, it’s better to use them instead of using any other chemically loaded moisturizer. You can also add some honey in warm water to dip your feet into the mixture for getting a moisturizing effect.

These were some of the ways that can help keep your feet beautiful and healthy and help combat the effect of winter dryness. So, use these simple remedies and maintain the health of your feet in winters as well.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.
