Winter is a beautiful season, especially if you live in New England. I love living in Massachusetts, but one thing about the winters here is that it is bitterly cold, all the time. So here's some stereotypical tips on how to survive New England Winters!

1. Break out the Puffy Jackets

Even if it's so puffy that you can't put your arms down, you'll thank yourself later as you trek through those frigid New England temperatures.

2. L.L. Bean Boots

Are you even from New England if you don't have a pair of these? It's the go-to winter shoe. Stylish and perfect for all weather!

3. Drink Dunkin, Every day

Considering there's a Dunkin Donuts around every corner, getting that warm cup of coffee is inevitable when beating the cold!

4. Layers, Layers, Layers

Wearing layers is probably the number one thing when staying warm in the winter.

5. Get the Winter Essentials

This winter wardrobe is essential for those cold New England days.

6. Enjoy What the Season has to Offer!

Winter in New England never fails to look beautiful, no matter how cold it gets. So take advantage of what this snowy season has to offer! Whether is going ice skating, skiing, snowboarding, sledding, drinking hot cocoa, or staying in to watch the hockey or football game, enjoy the little things that winter has to offer.

I remember my freshman year oh so well. I remember feeling terrified the night before orientation. The one thing that I dreaded the most was not the new people, the new environment, or even the academic pressure. I was dreading having to talk to sorority girls about Recruitment. I remember cutting off and avoiding any Rho Gamma/Panhellenic Officer that came my way during First Week. I looked at them like they had asked me to cut my arm off whenever they asked me if I wanted to rush. To be honest, I did not even know what rush was, but I knew that I did NOT want to be a part of it. To me, it was dumb. It was a waste of money. It was a waste of my time.

And guess what? I did not rush my freshman year. I spent the first half of my freshman year isolating myself from everyone on campus. I spent all of my time in the library, and then (since I was a commuter) went back home once my work was finished.
