I recently came down with the flu, while my mom was at home, in another state. Let me tell you how much it sucks, when your mom isn't there to make you chicken noodle soup and make sure you take medicine every six hours. Mom's also just happen to know everything about whether that runny nose and cough is just a cold or something that you should go to the doctor for.

My first bit of advice is when you call you mom, dad, or other loved one and say you aren't feeling good and they response with go to the doctor, actually go to the doctor. Don't be a hard head like me and insist it's nothing and then wait a couple days until you feel ten times worse to go. The sooner you nip something in the butt, the better. And once you have been diagnosed with something, make sure to stay as far away from friends, roommates, etc.

Staying hydrated, getting some sleep, and taking whatever medicine the doctor prescribes you properly are the easiest ways to start feeling better. Gatorade, ginger ale, or simply water are all great options for sick people. Also, lay in bed and caught up on whatever series you've been bingeing lately and make sure to take your medicine correctly and for the entire time it says. These may seem very straightforward but sometimes being sick gives you scatter brains.

It's also very important to have take some Lysol or bleach wipes and sanitize the areas frequented right before and during your time sick. And also, wash your bedding when you start to feel better. Most of the time mom's are there to do this but, when they aren't it's up to you. And trust me, it'll help you to stay healthy and not to give all your friends and roommates whatever sickness you had.

And most importantly whenever you are sick, your mom is just a call or Facetime away!

It's officially December. There is less than a month of 2024, and I still feel like yesterday was summer. Now comes the merriest time of the year, the Christmas season.

Everyone has been waiting for this time of year since mid-October (which is way too early, in my opinion) or before. It's a time of love, family, memory-making, and gift-giving. A lot of times when I ask friends and family what they want, I get a lot of "I don't know" or "I don't care."

I was sitting at my cubicle, now that I am an adult, looking at the rain pouring down on the windowsill, bumming on life, wishing for the rain to just stop for a full day.

There are moments where we count down the hours until work is over and how many more days till the weekend, and this many weeks until something exciting. Or something like that? Well, I was bumming because my next day off from work is not until Memorial Day weekend, which is not until the end of May. And since this is my first year out of college being a “real person,” I am totally missing the winter, spring and summer breaks. I am sure all of us have felt this way even if just for a hot minute…

If you go to or went to Kent State, then more than likely you have done or will do some of these things.

1. You’ve slipped and fallen on the ice at least once.
