How To Stay Preppy In The Winter

There are some preppy students that attend Ithaca College. In the warm and sunny weather, it is easier to preppy with your pastel colors and seersucker shorts. However, in the colder weather, sometimes it is hard to "stay preppy." So, here are some tips on how to stay preppy and what to wear as a preppy, female Ithaca College student:

1. Patagonia

Patagucci!! Patagonia has become one of those brands that everyone needs to invest in. I love their warm fleece pullovers in the winter. They have multiple styles that never disappoint. With its outdoor but colorful look, Patagonia will keep you warm and brighten your day amongst the gray skies of Ithaca.

2. L.L. Bean Boots

Every girl needs a pair of Bean boots in my opinion. They keep your feet warm in the snow, and they go with almost every outfit. You can wear them with leggings, jeans or corduroys. You can even dress them up with warm socks to make your outfit complete. L.L. Bean is a preppy and outdoorsy brand as well, so these will be sure to make your preppy outfit complete.

3. Vests!!

Vests make any outfit complete. You can either zipper them, or leave them open. I like vests from JCrew and Vineyard Vines. They have a large selection with a plethora of colors. So, definitely invest in a vest.

4. Shep Shirts

Shep shirts are like preppy sweatshirts. Vineyard Vines is honestly one of my favorite brands. The Shep shirts are the best things to get for the winter because they are warm yet fashionably preppy. So, pick a nice color with a cool shoulder pattern and you will be set.

5. Lululemon leggings

You may think that Lululemon leggings are meant only for working out. However, you are wrong! Get a pair of black Lululemon leggings to wear with your vests or sheep shirts. This will make you look preppy, but athletic as well. Plus, Lululemon leggings really are high quality leggings even though they can be on the pricy side.

6. Kiel James Patrick (KJP)

First of all, you should follow Kiel and his wife, Sarah, on their social media accounts. They will give you preppy tips, as well a relationship goals. KJP makes awesome jewelry, especially bracelets. I have a pearl bracelet. Every bracelet is uniquely crafter with an anchor. These new pink pearls are great for Valentine's Day, and they can go with any outfit.

7. Blanket Scarves

Blanket scarves will keep your neck warm, but the patterns will make your outfits more lively as well.

8. Corduroy pants

Corduroy looks cute with anything. It is also very comfortable and looks good on everyone! So, when you aren't wearing jeans or leggings, put on a pair of corduroys and see how they feel and look on you! I am sure you will love it. Plus, tan ones look really good with bean boots!

9. Flannels

Flannels can be worn with anything and any way you want. You can wear a flannel as a laid back look, or dress it up to look preppy! You can pair it with a cardigan, vest or sweater!

10. Jeans (obviously)

Jeans work with any outfit no matter what. They are the last thing you need for a preppy outfit. The shirts and the shoes you wear become the focus of a preppy outfit, so the jeans are just the cherry on top.

11. Vineyard Vines Cap

If you are having a bad hair day, you can easily stay preppy by throwing on a cap. These hats come in a variety of colors and some of them are even corduroy or flannel to keep your head warm in the winter.

I hope you use these tips to "stay preppy" in the winter. Usually, we think of beaches and warm colors when talking about preppy. However, as you can see, the winter weather should not affect the preppy style.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.
