How To Stay Holy During The Holidays
Kaylee Hamby

The holidays can be a thrilling time with the hustle and bustle of shopping, baking, and singing around the fire place. Sadly, however, it can also be a time many people struggle with. Whether this is the first Christmas you have spent without your loved one or your family is full of crazy personalities and you seem to never be enough, there is a way to stay holy this holiday. The true meaning of Christmas has been overlooked by all of the gifts, traffic, and controversial "Happy Holidays" saying. In the grand scheme of things, these are minor details to the big picture.

The true reason for Christmas, as most of you know, is not who got the biggest gift, whose wrapping is the prettiest, or who made the best turkey. Christmas is a time for believers to worship our Savior. Luke 2:10 states, "Do not be afraid; for behold, I bring you good news of great joy which will be for all the people; for today in the city of David there has been born for you a Savior, who is Christ the Lord."

A SAVIOR HAS BEEN BORN!! This is the wonderful news of Christmas that so many overlook. YOU ARE NOT THE SAVIOR OF CHRISTMAS. HE ALREADY CAME. It does not matter whether your christmas cookies are perfectly decorated or you proposed to your girlfriend this Christmas. Don't get me wrong these are all exciting things; but no present will ever amount to the Christmas gift God gave us the first Christmas night. How could you ever top sending a Savior to forgive all sins so your eternity is no longer in your hands, it is in the hands of your Father.

2 Things To Help Get You Through The Holidays

First off: The Gospel is for everyone. One of my favorite things about the Christmas season is the beauty that one can bring by sharing Jesus. This is a wonderful time for collecting coats, buying the less fortunate small presents, and loving on everyone you meet. You may not be able to save every person, but the Christmas spirit brings those in need the warmth and love they need.

Second: Only the Gospel can bring true joy. If you are battling the loneliness and heartache of losing a loved one, your happiness is withering away. I want to remind you that the joy that resides in your soul is not a worldy joy, but one the King of Heaven's Armies has placed inside of you. This joy will never fade as long as you have accepted Jesus's Christmas gift. This joy is here to stay.

Whatever this holiday brings you, remember God sent His perfect son to be your Savior, and that is the most joyful gift of all.

Summer: a time (usually) free from school work and a time to relax with your friends and family. Maybe you go on a vacation or maybe you work all summer, but the time off really does help. When you're in college you become super close with so many people it's hard to think that you won't see many of them for three months. But, then you get that text saying, "Hey, clear your schedule next weekend, I'm coming up" and you begin to flip out. Here are the emotions you go through as your best friend makes her trip to your house.

Feeling Lost During Syllabus Week? You're Not Alone!

Kourtney Kardashian

Winter break is over, we're all back at our respective colleges, and the first week of classes is underway. This is a little bit how that week tends to go.

The professor starts to go over something more than the syllabus

You get homework assigned on the first day of class

There are multiple group projects on the syllabus

You learn attendance is mandatory and will be taken every class

Professor starts chatting about their personal life and what inspired them to teach this class

Participation is mandatory and you have to play "icebreaker games"

Everybody is going out because its 'syllabus week' but you're laying in bed watching Grey's Anatomy

Looking outside anytime past 8 PM every night of this week

Nobody actually has any idea what's happening this entire week

Syllabus week is over and you realize you actually have to try now...or not

Now it's time to get back into the REAL swing of things. Second semester is really here and we all have to deal with it.

panera bread

Whether you specialized in ringing people up or preparing the food, if you worked at Panera Bread it holds a special place in your heart. Here are some signs that you worked at Panera in high school.

1. You own so many pairs of khaki pants you don’t even know what to do with them

Definitely the worst part about working at Panera was the uniform and having someone cute come in. Please don’t look at me in my hat.

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.
