Finals week is approaching and schoolwork is getting harder and more stressful by the minute. With final projects, papers, and coursework coming to an end, it can often feel like the end of your life. Yes, this time of year after Spring Break kicks all of our butts due to it being pre-finals time. Here are some tips to remain calm during these stressful times.

1. Eat your feelings

Sure, eating healthy is fun but NO way as soothing as eating unhealthy snack foods. Eat your favorite icecream or open up a bag of chips or even eat a bucket of fried chicken, it will make you feel better. By no means do not make it an unhealthy habit, but sometimes you need your comfort food.

2. Run and exercise to avoid responsibilities

The most productive way to stay calm is to completely ignore your responsibilities all together by working out for 3.5 hours. Since you ate that pint of ice cream anyway, it’s kind of necessary to go procrastinate at the gym.

3. Play with puppies

Playing with dogs or puppies is literally so stress relieving and it honestly makes you love yourself more. So take 10 minutes or 2 years to play with a dog and the stress will go away completely.

4. Call your mom

Your mom will ALWAYS have the best advice for whatever stressful situation you are in. Late on 2 papers, missed an exam, and have a project due at midnight?... Just call her and she will give you motivation to finish it all.

5. Think of how far you have come

You are a Junior in college… You have survived freshman year frat parties and the jerks that you met at them. You have been through finals week before at least 3 times and you survived. You gained the freshman 15 and worked it off and kept it off. YOU CAN GET THROUGH THIS WEEK.

6. Look at things day by day

Do not try to look at your planner and automatically be overwhelmed by all of the assignments and events you have to do. Just go day by day and take on assignments one at a time.

7. Remember how blessed you are

On a serious note, you might be pulling your hair out because of your stress level BUT you are so blessed. You are going to a great school trying to pursue your dreams. You have amazing friends and family that absolutely love you. The work load might be crazy right now but you can get through this.

Use these tips to remain calm despite how stressed you truly are. You will get through this semester and everything thing will work out. Just stay positive through everything and remember these hard times will be over soon.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.
