Many of us use the new year as a time to recommit to healthy habits and a healthy lifestyle. Most of the time, going to the gym only lasts a week or two and eating healthy lasts a week. It’s important to begin the year right, starting off your year on a healthy note will be more positive and uplifting for you in return.
It's hard to figure out where to begin when trying to recommit to a healthy lifestyle. To recommit to having a healthy lifestyle, it's unnecessary to have a crazy juice cleanse or revamping your entire diet. Small steps can improve your healthy lifestyle, here are a few steps to start your New Year off on the right foot.
1. SLEEP
Make sure you sleep the full eight hours. Many people forget that getting enough sleep is just as important as having a healthy diet and regular exercise.
2. EAT BREAKFAST
Make sure you eat breakfast! By eating breakfast, your body’s metabolism gets moving and will give you the energy you need to start your day. Your breakfast doesn’t have to be complicated, try having a protein shake, or toast and fruit, something quick and easy.
3. DRINK WATER
Drinking water is imperative to keep you hydrated and prevent you from getting sick. If you don’t like water, try Gatorade or other sports drinks to keep you hydrated.
4. REVIEW 2016
Take time to look back and see where you’ve been and to appreciate all the accomplishments you’ve made in the last year. Then, think about what went well and how you can improve on certain things from the past year, so that for the New Year, you can start positively.
5. FOCUS
Focus on your dreams and goals, and this will help you figure out what kind of lifestyle you want and gives you ideas about how you can achieve them in the New Year.
6. YOU
By figuring out what you want your year to look like, and focusing on your goals and aspirations, you put yourself first. Taking care of yourself is key to reaching your goals and will make you a better person, friend, child, parent, and spouse.
