There are few key qualities that will get you a long way in life, regardless of what anybody tells you. Being kind, to me, is number one on my life. Why? Because being kind can do more than you think. If you practice being kind, to your family, friends and peers, you can foster great relationships.
Being kind in the workplace, I know, is a bit different and might actually be harder to do than you would think. Not everybody is kind, so you might find yourself at a cross road when dealing with someone who doesn't uphold the same "kindness" as you do. But no need to worry, I'm here to give you a few tips on how to stay patient, keep a smile and be kind- to even the most gruesome creatures at work.
Start your day with a "good morning."
Saying good morning is much better than just talking about what work there is to do. It is important to show this kind of gesture to get going on the right foot.
Never forget "please" AND "thank you!"
If someone does something for you, it is only out of respect that you say please and thank you. This will let the other person know you have manners, and establish a very respectable atmosphere.
If you are running out of patience, take a deep breath before you speak.
Don't be too quick to get snippy with someone who doesn't deserve it. And yes there are some people who "deserve" it sometimes. But if you are feeling frustrated, take a deep breath, count to ten, and then speak.
Have a happy attitude and be sincere.
Just please don't be fake- that's quite possibly the worst thing you can do.
And if someone is getting out of line with you, be firm.
There is a difference in being nasty, and being firm. Being firm demands respect, and being nasty is breeding grounds for an argument.
I hope these help in efforts to keep a happy and healthy atmosphere at work.
